Charmed, which recently celebrated a milestone as being the longest-running show featuring all female leads, may be headed for a big finish. Last year, it looked like the WB’s long-running show about beautiful witches was going to be cancelled but the series was given a new season order at the last minute. This year, with the contracts of the female leads (Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Kaley Cuoco) and executive producer Brad Kern expiring, it looks doubtful there will be a ninth season.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Kern said, “Nobody at WB will commit one way or the other. I’ve heard nothing about it. As far as I’m concerned, this is it. Last year the show was held in limbo, but fortunately ‘the governor called’ and we got another year. I wasn’t able to craft a season or series finale [then], so I did sort of a hybrid, which to me was disappointing creatively. ”
He continued, “This year, with no contract for the girls and no contract for me, the WB seems to be looking forward to looking for ‘the next generation’ of shows. We’re still an expensive show, and all those factors tell me that, here in the middle of January, I’m just pushing toward the series finale. It’s too late for them to say, ‘We want to find a way to make a ninth season’ — but it doesn’t mean there can’t be a spin-off.”
Kern went on to say that, in an ideal world, he would bring back many of the past cast members for an appearance. But, with budgetary issues having taken center stage this year (hence the reduced appearances of Brian Krause’s Leo character), it seems doubtful that you’ll see the return of Shannon Doherty’s Prue or Julian McMahon’s Cole.
Still, Kern has other magical surprises in store for fans saying, “The huge problem I have to deal with this year is the budget cutback. I’m trying to save money each episode so I can afford to bring back as many of the regular cast members as possible. Who that will be, I don’t know, but my plan is to have the equivalent of a ‘family reunion’ including as many people as I can afford.” In addition, Kern didn’t rule out the possibility of creatively used flashbacks. 
Charmed is my life everyday I make sure that I do not miss charmed at all. I watch charmed twice in the morning on tnt and twice in the evenlyn on tnt back to back its like am a dickted to that tv show the girls are a wonderful actors and I love them all. i wish that in the last couple of shows prue would come back to help because she’s the strongest which and i would have loved for the last couple of sesons to have been like frist couple because i think they don’t come close to how good the frist couple were and i wacht charmed a lot well the one’s with prue in a least and the 4 a bit,but i love the show loads!!!!! i whant up to sesons 4 on dvd.byebye
I love CHARMED! I have watched this show since the begining. I altered my work schedule so I could be home to watch my most favorite t.v. program. This meant no bathroom break, telephone calls or break of any kind. Last season, I almost fainted when I thought Pheobe and Paige had died (ending the power of three). So ending the show would be detrimental for fans like me. First we lose Aaron Spelling (a creative genius)and now a creative show.
its sad to see charm go so soon, i enjoyed watchin it morning and evening,,..they’re great actors,,the shows were filled with action drama suspense ,, a bit of every thing,,i wish they could at least make a few more movies,, prue- the way you stood up as the bigger sister and the strongest- piper the way you took love so seriously with leo- phoebe you giving up on love but still at the end broked that barrier between you and love and- page the way you faced reality that you were meant to be a witch and then later on… Read more »

Please, I grow up with the Charmed Ones, I even have a tatto with their simbol, my son which is 4 years old loves them, he know everyone on the show, this is the only show me and my son enjoy together. We love the Show we need it back.

come on you guys how could you let a show so amazing go off air plz bring it back i love piper she is the best, if paige and phoebe dont wanna do the show anymore why cant leo come back and prune and all they will need is more more sister,i dont think they have money problems at all they just wanna take something so great away and thats a shame love all of the charmed characters plz come back..
My children and I have watched Charmed since its inception.I loved the last episode and how each character finally found a balance in their lives.I will miss my sunday night ritual of sitting down with my now almost grown children to watch our favorite show.thank you for many entertaining years and best of luck to a most talented cast and writing crew.
I have watched Charmed from the beginning, you can`t take if off the air yet!!! There are so many unanswered questions about the girls lives, their future so many more adventures left!!!!!!! Good luck to the cast will miss you but, hope to see you in another season. The Power of Three Will Set Us Free.
Charmed is very much loved in this house hold. I hope that it will go for another season. you ladys are really great. you can not let the show die. also Page needs a good man too. I also agree, that Prue should show up like mom and grandma.you have awhole new generation to work on formore seasons. i truly hope you are doing another year, but if not god bless and good luck with your next gig. i love CHARMED very much!… it’s the only show that changed my life. it wasnt only about magic and action, but it was also about family, friends, and loved ones. it teaches a lot of good morals.. its the only sjow that made me miss a meeting in school, an assignment, and a practice, but it is all worth it. evryone is right… at least give us, the fans, a charmed spin-off… PIPER, you’re the BEST!!!!!!!!!!
it is ashamed that charmed is leaving even though there are millions of people who absolutly love and adore it im really going to miss it and i wish they would give it a 9th season. i dont get it!!! if there are budget costs then why are they bringing 7th heaven back but not charmed??? that really pisses me off even though i love 7th heaven too!!!!!!!!!!
to take this show of the air is a crime. its a show my mother my self and my children look forward to every week plz keep it on air
CHARMED is a great show, and it was creative too. But it was time for them to go, after Shannen died Rose took the third sister role and made it her own, and it was still charmed. And though I have grown fond of the characters, it was just their time. It’s time for the next generation of witches, I actually had a great idea for their replacement. Anyway, I shall miss the three witches, and farewell. You went through your ups and downs and hopefully they formed life long friendships with their co-stars.

I think this is one of the best tv series that I ever watch in long time, but i would like to know if there is going to be a next season, this is a very creative and genius program that besides to entertain teach you a lot of knoledge about some interesting subjest of the magic world that in some way may be present in the real world.
