Angels Memorial is closing its doors. CBS has cancelled its Code Black TV show after three seasons. Creator and showrunner Michael Seitzman has already confirmed the Code Black cancellation. Although the production utilized the extraordinary measures of amputating some original series regulars (Raza Jaffrey and Bonnie Somerville) and grafting on a big name (Rob Lowe), the patient eventually succumbed to acute ratings anemia.
A CBS medical drama, Code Black stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzmán, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, Moon Bloodgood, and Lowe. The story unfolds at Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles — home of the busiest, most notorious ER in the country. The high patient volume dwarfs the resources available to the exceptional staff — creating a condition known as Code Black.
According to Seitzman despite the cancellation, the third season should continue to air in its regular timeslot. Because he expected the there would be no season four, it seems the team wrote the season three finale to serve as a series finale. Check out what he has to say, below.
Code Black: A Look at the Ratings
The third season of Code Black, which just kicked off on April 25th, is averaging a 0.71 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.448 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by about 26% and 9%, respectively.
Of the 27 scripted CBS TV shows we’ve been tracking during the regular 2017-18 television season, Code Black ranks 23rd in the demo. That number only rises to 21st, when we sort by average total audience. In other words, the cancellation makes business sense.
EP Michael Seitzman Confirms Code Black Has Been Cancelled by CBS
Making sure to thank the fans, Seitzman, whose Quantico on ABC also fell prey to the Television Vulture, announced Code Black will not return for season four. Check out what he has to say about the remaining episodes and anticipating the need for a Code Back TV series finale.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Code Black TV series? If it were up to you, would it be cancelled or renewed for season four on CBS? Sound off in the comments.
My favorite show. Apparently our voices don’t count anywhere anymore. Shame on you CBS. This show was a gem.
you made a mistake to cancel this show…. !!!! bring it back !!!
This show should not be cancelled this show would be as big as Greys Anatomy it is amazing how could you cancel it? Please put it back on ?
Please please keep Code Black. It was awesome. So many more crap shows to get rid of but not this one.
NBC keeps airing crappy Chicago Med but CBS cancels the far better Code Black, go figure.
bring code black back for another season. You cannot stop watching it. Unlike so many other program you have to watch every minute. One of the best programs on tv.
Bring back code black for season 4 . Great show!!!!
I can’t believe Code Black is being cancelled. I saw it having a future run in comparison to Grey’s Anatomy. The ratings are lower due to being in the summer when everyone has a lot going on. I’m so disappointed. CBS had a good thing going.
I am so disappointed that Code Black has been cancelled. The writing was excellent, the acting superb, the stories compelling. The network will undoubtedly replace with either a reality show, game show, or comedy with canned laughter. That’s why so many people are turning to Netflix or premium cable channels. For the most part, major networks have become boring.
Why are you cancelling Code Black one of the better shows on TV. Instead cancel Stephen Colbert who sickens at least half of America and leave in a well acted drama in Code Black.
Don’t cancel code black. This is one of my favorite TV shows, and this last few episodes was amazing, there is unfinished business in the 3rd season that needs to be wrapped up. So please have a 4th season
How come you don’t count all of us who are 50 & up yrs old? These young people don’t know squat obout good tv shows! I hope fox or some other station picks it up & continues it. Please
I was wondering the same thing about the age group .us older people enjoy these programs and I am very upset that they cancelled Code blue. They rather keep reality TV for the younger group and forget about the over 50.CBS cancels a lot of good programs.
Season 3 Episode 13 was the best, to me the episodes were elevating every week. There needs to be a 4th season to really wrap up some things…I.E. Dr. Noe
I wish this will ot be cancelled.
Please don’t cancel Code Black. This show is well acted, interesting, exciting & addictive. I look forward to Code Black each week. Please
bring the show back!
What a crappy ending
