Based on the book by Bruce Feiler, the Council of Dads TV show follows the Perry clan and their extended surrogate family.
Scott Perry (Scott) is a loving father of five who has his entire life’s plan thrown into upheaval by an unexpected health scare. After being diagnosed with cancer, he and his wife call on a few of their most trusted friends to step in as back-up dads to help guide and support his growing family – just in case Scott can’t be there to do it himself.
Committed bachelor Anthony Lavelle (Standen) is Scott’s oldest and most loyal friend. Larry Mills (O’Neill) is Scott’s tough-love AA sponsee. Doctor Oliver Post (Richards) is Scott’s dedicated oncologist and his wife’s dearest friend.
Scott’s immediate family includes his wife, Robin (Callies), adult daughter Luly (Weaver), son Theo (Anthony), son JJ (Chapman), and adopted daughter Charlotte (Tran).
Together, this group discovers that there’s more to being a father than anyone could do alone — and more to being a family than they ever thought possible.
Episode #10 — Fight or Flight
Anthony arrives at the storm-ravaged Perry home to find Robin and Theo in peril, and Oliver puts all his medical skills to work when Sage goes into early labor. Meanwhile, the future of the Crab Shack is left hanging in the balance from the storm damage and the Perry kids grapple with the stunning news about Luly. Hilarie Burton and David Walton guest star.

What do you think? Do you like the Council of Dads TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Just now finding out that they canceled one of my favorite shows. Always looked forward to watching this every week. Hopefully like last Man standing another network might pick them up.
I think the timing of when the Council of Dads premiered may have had an impact on it’s success. I wasn’t always tuned it to the correct day and time. I watched every episode on Hulu. The writing and story theme was excellent and timely. The thought of a father and husband planning for his family after his death in the role he would have played as father was heartwarming and made for great television. The acting and characterizations added another level of complexities because the father figures were also dealing with their own personal issues as they were giving… Read more »
Council of Dads is an exceptional show. Please reconsider a second season.
I realize you have made this decision already. I know it is hard to send a message to networks. I am sure that many people are “streaming” or watching ther things. I know a lot of people just accept what is. I don’t know who you are targeting these days as your viewers either. I am far and away fom corporate anything. This was a good show. A good family to follow and honest to life problems. It was a show well worth watching and while the kids who don’t watch tv anymore cannot agree because it is not on… Read more »
I really loved this show!! Great acting and different storyline. I was really looking forward for season 2. Please do not cancel. Many of my friends and co-workers really like it and would like the show to return for next season.
The Council of Dads show should be renewed. It was a great show with excellent actors. I was looking forward to season 2 along with many of my co-workers. What a shame!!
Love Council of Dads! I really like all the actors in this show and they mesh together so well! It seems like a real family! The actors seem to genially care for one another. I live the diversity of this show! Please bring it back!!

Loved this show. Heartwarming story. Why is it cancelled? Relevant, poignant. What gives with NBC??
I’m sick of cop shows!!
This is unbelievable! How is it that some ridiculous shows that have no real storyline are always renewed while meaningful shows with heartfelt stories get cancelled. What are programming directors thinking when cancelling these shows. If ratings aren’t high change a day or time slot give them a chance.
NBC does it yet again!!! Cancels a wonderfully refreshing new show! It never fails every year. Maybe you think you can afford to keep disappointing viewers since you are introducing your new paid service.
I really hope someone somewhere picks this show up to continue the story.
Council of Dads is a great show! Actors are great. Dont cancel …. bring it back!! Seems all the good shows get cancelled and we are left with nothing good to watch. Bring it back!!
I lost my husband unexpectedly on September 28, 2019. I had a hard time focusing for a long time. I decided to watch Council of Dads to see how she handled the loss of her husband. Our situations are different, but I find encouragement watching this show. I think it deserves another chance.
NBC please reconsider the cancellation of Councils of Dad. Everyone loves this show & we love Michele Weaver. We cannot bear this news. We all watched the show. Please DO NOT CANCEL!!!!
I think the council of dads is a great show and you should give it another season it is just as good as this is us
So sad this show is cancelled. I really like this show. It’s always the good shows they cancel. I hope another network will pick it up.
