It looks like its case closed for fans of the Deputy TV series. FOX has decided not to order a second season of the Thursday night TV show for the 2020-21 season.
A crime drama, Deputy stars Stephen Dorff as Bill Hollister, a fifth-generation lawman who is thrust into the role of Los Angeles County Sheriff after the elected sheriff dies. The show’s cast also includes Yara Martinez, Brian Van Holt, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Shane Paul McGhie, and Mark Moses.
The first season of Deputy averaged a 0.58 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.67 million viewers. Deputy had a mediocre start in the ratings when it launched in January but the ratings slid downward over the course of the season. The show’s 13th and final installment aired last week.
Deputy is FOX’s second-lowest rated dramatic series of the season. The lowest-rated drama, Almost Family, has already been cancelled.

What do you think? Have you seen the Deputy TV series? Would you have watched season two?
Deputy was a great show and we will miss it. He wanted to buck the odds and the system. This country needs more of that. More advertising might have saved this show. There was so much the writers could have done with the show and characters.
That is such ******** I’m so freaking mad! That was the best series I’ve seen in a long time and probably the only thing actually worth watching on tv. I should just cancel my satellite subscription anytime there’s an actual series worth watching it just gets canceled for what ? More stupid reality shows that are nothing like reality at all or a bunch of games shows or Competition shows ? What happened to series with a storylines that suck you in and keep you wanting and waiting for the next episode to air. Uhg such crap big mistake canceling… Read more »
That’s ********! That was an awesome season and I was so looking forward to the next season I can’t believe they canceled probably the thing worth watching on tv! So mad!!!!!
I think it was a good show it was just getting started I think it had potential shouldn’t have cancled it
I loved Dorff character in this show! He was made for it. My only issue with the show was the “politically correct” sub-plot of a lesbian deputy that struggles with being “non-binary” in her sexuality. Being gay or lesbian is one thing but this was a ridiculous issue that most people simply can’t relate to.
A very good series I cannot believe Fox cancelled it
A very good show I can’t believe Fox canceled it.
Finally they get a show that is interesting and has a good story and isn’t a stupid reality show that questions our intelligence and what do they do cancel it. Wrong move again obviously their not in touch with their viewers
That’s literally what I just said too ! So mad Fox really messed up by canceling this series!
Fox got it wrong AGAIN
Awesome show – I think fox is making a mistake on this one. The show is a winner.
With citizens taking over cities because of their unhappiness with their governance, the show, Deputy, models a more socially appropriate way to do this. Removing this option from the viewing pleasure, gives citizens a chance to make up their own ways, which, currently, most people are not in favor of.
This is disappointing. They keep other shows that are not as entertaining. Wish they would change their mind.
Kristy ,you got it right, FOX has messed up. They have SEVERAL shows No Where as entertaining as DEPUTY, but they don’t listen to the audience. DEPUTY was a great, personal living show. Showed the real way of Law Enforcement
I really loved the show I am dissapointed they cancelled it. Will another station pick it up
Steven Dorff was great I am really pissed off
I enjoyed this show. Should NOT have been cancelled.
A very good action show no swearing yes violence but against druggies and bad people, showing the business of people who are police and how they are. A real dissapointment to see it cancelled. I hate the new nasty violence on tv, the dirty words, the just totally unbelievable stuff that is in the movies. A real shame it wasnt given another chance.
