The original Dynasty TV show ran on ABC for nine seasons, between January 1981 and May 1989. The classic primetime sudser, from creators Richard and Esther Shapiro, starred John Forsythe, Linda Evans and Joan Collins and was launched to compete with CBS’ Dallas. Now The CW is rebooting it straight — i.e. it isn’t a sequel series or a spin-off. Other than being set in the present, much remains more or less the same, despite a new ethnicity and name-spelling here, a gender swap there, and a location about 1,400 miles east. Is that enough to enthrall a new generation of fans and attract fans of the original? Will the new Dynasty be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A CW soap opera, Dynasty stars Grant Show, Alan Dale, Elizabeth Gillies, Nathalie Kelley, James Mackay, Sam Adegoke, Robert Christopher Riley, Rafael de la Fuente, Brianna Brown, and Nick Wechsler. The drama centers on the wealthy Carrington family and the energy empire they must defend against the Colbys and other adversaries. Although Fallon (Gillies) is the heir apparent to father Blake’s (Show) company, she grows suspicious when she learns he is marrying the beautiful, much younger Cristal (Kelley). When Fallon sets out to expose the interloper as a fraud, her actions cost her her father’s trust, so she forges an alliance with his rival, Jeff Colby (Adegoke). Blood is thicker than water, but whether it’s dearer than oil remains to be seen.

Most of the casting for this reboot is way off. Let’s see there’s Blake that seems too young, Joseph the butler is way too old. They were peers in the original. To me Fallon does not match Beauty and grace of original Fallon, Pamela Sue Martin. Steven was a hero type, but in this he’s more feminine gay. Why in this day and age can they not come up with a brand new drama instead of remaking all the classic dramas from the past? You can’t mess with perfection. It’s like music today, the lyrics suck, there is no comparison to the songwriting of the 60s and 70s.

The new reboot is terrible! Sammy Jo suppose to be a girl, not a guy. Jeff Colby suppose to be white guy, not black guy. This new Fallon is all wrong. This reboot is all wrong. The producers had to be drunk to do this show. I’m the original Dynasty fan, not this crappy reboot. CANCEL IT!!!!!

Yes, and I’ll tell you exactly why…..because Jeff Colby is a character who has been well established for 4 decades as a WHITE GUY. Any particular reason they couldn’t have created an original major black character instead of changing an already established one?
Jimmy Olsen and Perry White were white for 7 decades and are far more well known but are black on TV and in the movies now.
Here’s the deal Rex (love the handle by the way), the actor they chose to portray Jeff Colby did not have the “it” factor. In the original Dynasty, the Jeff Colby character was… handsome, rich, with a boyish charm about him, he had the “it’ factor. Women loved him. It is diverse and the actors are all doing a great job. Why cut and paste the original? The changes give the show a chance to grow and stand alone.

Bad rip0ff. Take old show and knock 20 yrs. off their ages and you have an unbelievable show. I wasn’t a big fan of the 1st one but better actors than this one.

This show is really bad I only manage to watch the first half hour the acting is terrible the only person that can act is Grant Show I am thinking it will be cancelled its bad.
If they couldn’t do a sequel series focusing on the next generation of Carringtons and Colbys, then it should have been left alone. Just change the name of this remake series and the character names, because what you have anyway is a completely new, different show that bears no resemblance to the original except in name only.
The IP is owned by CBS, the other half who owns CW. They can do whatever the hell they want with an old and unused relic that is just collecting dust in the vault.

Nothing beats the original. The remake is a mix of garbage and appeal. Time will tell. I miss Linda Evans!
