Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

This series was complex, compelling, exciting, my favorite show too. Basically, if it’s a good show, it gets cancelled.

Let’s petition if we can sometimes that helps to bring the show back sometimes I just don’t get it since the first episode the show has been giving me life never a dull moment
I agree, we should petition for it to come back.
This was the best Show ever. Please do not cancel this show. There has to be at least a season 2 so we can find out if Adam gets his life back, if Ben and his mom reconnects, what happened to the reporter, if the kidnapper goes to prison or what the Governor regarding giving her DNA to find out if that the remains found was not her son. I would be messed up If ABC ends this show in a cliff hanger.

They never even gave the family a chance wow
The Family has some of the most jaw dropping cliffhangers on tv currently and you are cancelling it? That just doesn’t make any sense. GOOD BYE ABC, I’m not going to watch or promote another ABC show again. This is the last time I invest weeks of my time watching this network.
Furthermore, I hope The Family gets picked up by another network because many of us would like another season.
I hope it gets picked up by a smarter network too! The Family is a totally awesome show which had me looking forward to Sunday night television again!
ABC never fails to fail! Every single time we’ve fallen in love with a great program, they go and dump it early on and unresolved. I’m not really sure why we keep coming back for more.
Netflix? Hulu? Are you seeing this? SOMEONE please pick up this show and keep it going!
I am disappointed this series was cancelled. It was interesting with many subjects not dealt with in any other show such as kidnapped kids who survived and a pedifile being the scapegoat. Cutting edge for network TV but obviously network execs are still too ‘chicken’ to deal with these topics.

I agree with all of the comments below!! We loved The Family and so did friends of ours!!! There is something wrong with the ABC network, this is the fifth amazing show that they have cancelled!!! They are not giving shows a long enough chance and/or considering the time slot they are in!! This is at least the third show that has failed in this time slot against The Walking Dead!! Well obviously they (TWD) have loyal fans, but who cares because I am not one of them?!? There are plenty of people out there who are watching something else… Read more »

ABC always does this. They cancel shows without giving it time to click with the audience. This is why I hate to start ABC shows, they never last. There have been a lot of great shows canceled and for no other reason then they didn’t give the show time to catch on..
Please don’t cancel. This is the best show I have am watched in a long time. A second season would be great. Please don’t cancel.
