The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I don’t even watch TV, I was going to cancel my cable because its 100’s and 100’s of crap television shows that bore me, but I really liked this one! I tell all my friends and coworkers to watch it. That was great writing and ABC doesn’t know what they are doing, Everyone I know loved this show. So who cares about ratings when you have good writing and great acting. ABC should care about the people that enjoy good tv not the age group as the younger gen wants tv now so subscribe.. I am done with watching series as they all end. Maybe A & E will pick it up like they have with Bates Motel another great show.

I was very disappointed to see CBS has cancelled The Family, watched every episode. I would at least like to see it come on for another season to have Adam come home.
My family and I are avid watchers of this series. We have watched every episode from the beginning and are very upset and dissapointed to hear ABC has cancelled the show. ABC needs to give the series a CHANCE!!! Stop cancelling shows that have the potential to become popular with a loyal fan base! Shame on ABC to leave viewers hanging with the season finale and no hope of more to come.
Please don’t cancel the show . With such a cliff hanger we need to know what happens. Please give us one more season
I really like the show.and personally don’t think it was given a chance. Perhaps they should try a different night to show it before deciding to cancel it.

If I would have known this show was going to be canceled I wouldn’t have watched the finale. This sucks! I am a fan of this show, the last episode is a cliff hanger with so much more answers needed. Very disappointed with this decision. I can’t believe this show didn’t make it, but Mistresses is coming back hmmm….
