The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I am beyond upset to hear The Family has been cancelled. How can the show be cancelled after only one season? The show was great every single week and I always could not wait until Sundays to watch it. The story line had so many good twist and turns that I stayed interested for the full hour every single Sunday. The finale was so great and all I want to know is what is going to happen next. I can’t believe this show has been canceled. Honestly one of the best shows I have ever watched in my life. Very disappointed in ABC over this decision. The ‘season finale’ that wasn’t supposed to be the finale left me wanting so much more. KEEP THE FAMILY ON ABC!!!
I can’t believe ABC will not be giving this excellent show more of a chance. I missed most of the Good Wife final season because I became hooked on The Family right away. Now that I have seen the final episode, I am just angry that this show will be gone with all that was left hanging. There is so much potential for so much more story there. Why not try it on another night or different time slot? This show deserves another look ABC execs.

You got to be kidding me, I just wasted all my Sunday nights watching this show I got hooked on to only find out it’s cancelled after one season? That’s awful ABC . You left us hanging on where’s Adam been all this time. When we all thought he was dead. I hope somebody changes there mind and renew this show
So lame that this show was cancelled. It was a creative storyline – nothing else like it out there. Grey’s Anatomy should have ended MANY seasons ago. Unreal ABC…so tired of seeing good shows get cancelled.

This TV show was so great! It’s disappointing that ppl out there didn’t watch more that way it wouldn’t have gotten cancelled! There aren’t many shows out there that keep you on your toes. Please Hulu or Netflix, pick up this show and finish the story!

NOOOO! .. Do not cancel this show!! It is SO so so good. How could it not have been picked up for a second season!?!? So ridiculous how the dumbest shows get picked up yet the really good realistic ones get canceled.

PLEASE I beg of you not to cancel this show. I find it so hard to believe it had such low ratings. It’s amazing what shows survive. Quantico, Once upon a time, Scandal. All of these shows have such weak character development and are totally boring or so confusing that’s it’s hard to know what the heck is going on. RECONSIDER

I think “The Catch” should be canceled before this show. ABC decision to cancel “The Family” does not make sense. Please renew it!
