(Hallmark Channel)
Earlier this month, we reported that production on season nine of the Home & Family morning program would resume on March 29th. Now, it’s been revealed that the Hallmark Channel lifestyle series will end this year and won’t have a 10th season.
The series began in 1996 as The Home and Family Show on The Family Channel (a predecessor to Fox Family Channel, ABC Family, and the current Freeform channel) and was hosted by Cristina Ferrare, Michael Burger, and Chuck Woolery. The latter left in 1996 and the series ran until 1998.
The show was rebooted in 2012 on Hallmark Channel. Mark Steines and Paige Davis co-hosted the new version but Davis left after six weeks and was replaced by Ferrare, a host of the original iteration. In 2016, Ferrare was dropped and replaced by Debbie Matenopoulos. Then, Steines was replaced by Cameron Mathison in 2018.
In addition to celebrity interviews, Home & Family episodes typically include lifestyle and craft segments. Contributors have included Kym Douglas, Orly Shani, Ken Wingard, Shirley Bovshow, Lawrence Zarian, Paige Hemmis, Ali Fedotowsky, Larissa Wohl, Maria Provenzano, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Prior to the pandemic, the Hallmark series aired for two hours on weekdays. Due to COVID-19, production shut down in March 2020 but resumed in September. Filming ceased again in December and production is expected to resume next week. Episodes will begin airing on April 5th with a one-hour, three-day-a-week schedule. The series finale will air on August 4th.
A statement about the Home & Family cancellation was released by Hallmark, per Variety.
The ninth and current season of Home & Family will be the series’ last. For nearly a decade, the show has anchored our daytime lineup, featuring countless hours of cooking, lifestyle, DIY, health, entertaining, and decorating segments. We want to thank the heart and soul of the show, our incredibly talented cast and crew — led by co-hosts Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison — for their creativity, hard work, and dedication. Our audience can look forward to more of the topical segments they know and love when the show returns on Monday, April 5 with a new one-hour, three-day-a-week format. The program’s final episode airs Wednesday, August 4th.
What do you think? Do you like the Home & Family TV series? Are you sorry to hear that the show’s been cancelled and won’t have a 10th season?

This was one of the few shows worth watching on tv. Wholesome, informative and entertaining. I am SO disappointed with Hallmark and hope they reconsider this decision. What a shame…
Hallmark Channel was one of the few stations where you could still see quality programming. I’m fairly certain that the new CEO is going to drastically change the programs and if this is the case I will be canceling my paid subscription to the channel because I liked things the way that they are and don’t see the need for any changes.
It is such a fabulous show and very uplifting why would you do this Hallmark you are doing a very sad thing. During this time we need good shows like this
very sad from Vermont
I am so disappointed with the new CEO making the decision to cancel Home and Family. I love the cast. I feel as though they are part of my family. I remember crying with Kym while she courageously asked for prayers when she was diagnosed with the big “C.” As a result I asked my doctor for a mammogram. These folks are real and make everything all right, with their uplifting spirit during some pretty dark times. I enjoy their guests, recipes, DIYS, and fashion ideas. No politics and their open belief in God is extremely unique. You are making… Read more »
A part of my family too. I never imagined I would feel so sad when I found out about H&F being cancelled. Hopefully there will be a reversal of their decision.
We need Home and Family in our lives. It is such a great wholesome, informative show. The variety in this show is what makes it apart from any show on TV. It’s not a judge show or a individual star talk show or an all cooking show. This show makes the Hallmark channel valuable – the movies a good but you need a break from a movie. Keep Home and Family on.
I just went to the Hallmark Channel and was expecting to watch Matlock but to my Surprise my FAVORITE Show was ON ❤️Please don’t Cancel this Entertaining Show I will be very Upset Thank You
Very unhappy that Home and Family has been canceled.
So sad to hear this, how the replace it with a similar format!
Very sorry to see it go, very good show and the cast is warm and friendly.
So very sorry to see it go, it was the only thing on Hallmark that I ever watched except for the occasional movie. The show will be greatly missed.
This is heart-breaking! This show was so positive and up,if ting with no gossip or political talk. I loved the recipes, interviews, craft, garden, fashion, and decor ideas! So very sad. Please re-consider, @hallmarktv
Home and Family is a great show. Please reconsider this decision.
They should renew this show, only good thing on TV that’s not political! It’s just refreshing. Please don’t cancel it.
Very sorry to see this show leaving the Hallmark Channel. It gave us great ideas in all sorts of venues and was a step away from all the Hallmark movies and mystery series which I love, but this morning show was a breath of fresh air.
Very upset it will be cancelled! If they did not like it , they should have revamped it, not cancelled it.
