The charade is over. Bravo has cancelled its Imposters TV show after two seasons. Word is that the NBCUniversal-owned cable network is changing up the way it handles scripted programming. Since there will be no season three of Imposters, the season two finale on June 7th, episode 2.10, “See You Soon, Macaroon,” will now served as the Imposters TV series finale.
A Bravo dark comedy, Imposters stars Inbar Lavi, Rob Heaps, Parker Young, Marianne Rendón, Stephen Bishop, and Brian Benben, with Uma Thurman guest starring. It centers on Maddie (Lavi), a beautiful con-artist, and the “Bumblers,” a team of her former victims. The producers will reportedly try to shop a third season of Imposters, elsewhere.
Imposters: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Imposters is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 419,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 50% and 43%, respectively. Learn how Imposters stacks up against other Bravo TV shows.
Imposters Cancelled After Two Seasons as Bravo Shakes Things Up
Here’s more on the Imposters cancellation from The Hollywood Reporter:
Sources say Imposters had a strong run on Netflix and Bravo had hoped that the Universal Cable Productions drama would receive a ratings bump following its SVOD run given that the cable network is not best known for its scripted series. That was not the case as season two, which returned a year later with not a lot of marketing muscle behind it, lost a chunk of its live viewership.
Sources say UCP may try to shop the series elsewhere with Netflix a possibility given that the series is said to have performed better on the streaming giant than on its original home at Bravo. The series has been a profit generator at UCP thanks to the Netflix deal and strong international sales.
In a larger sense, the decision to cancel Imposters marks a change in the Bravo’s scripted direction. The cable network’s first scripted original — Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, starring Adelstein— will end with its fifth season, bowing June 14. Once that wraps, Bravo’s lone scripted drama will be big-swing anthology Dirty John, starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana. The anthology was picked up following a bidding war, with Bravo handing out a two-season order for the drama and supporting the series with companion docuseries on corporate sibling Oxygen. The move marks a shift in Bravo’s scripted direction to bigger and bolder programming that can cut through a cluttered landscape expected to top 500 scripted originals this year.
What do you think? Have you been watching the second season of the Imposters TV show? If it were up to you, would Bravo have cancelled or renewed this TV series for a third season?
What a wonderful, brilliant show! I deeply regret it ended. The directors and the artists did wonderful jobs. Mournings from Russia that the show ended. I hope the channel will change it mind. For example, Ezra and the team as a new doctor could try doing good things and still make money.
Loved this show, light hearted, funny, and with a thousand twists and turns, sorry to see it canned, come on Netfix I was looking forward to season three.
I love the imposters, so sad it is cancelled. I have hope that Netflix will pick it up. It is definitely worth the pick up
Please Netflix, we need you.
Imposter fan
The Imposters was such a excellent show. Loved every minute of season one and season two . I’m 38. I got my mother who is 60 to watch season one and she watched the entire season in 2 days she loved it so much. The problem Bravo has a very bad reputation of trash TV that nobody wants to say they put that channel on. Especially men. I think The Imposters didn’t get the recognition and advertising it deserved. I know those who DID actually watch the show LOVED it and the actors chemistry was fantastic. I’d love to see… Read more »
I am so frustrated that every show I love gets cancelled!! But atleast my other show U love is having a 2hr final episode! Bravo is just leaving the loyal virwers of this great show hanging! Maybe Bravo should cancel some of those boring Housewives shows that go on & on with ridiculous stortylines!!! Big Big Mistake cancelling Imposters…in fact Im going to boycott Bravo altogether!!
I am extremely disappointed that impostors has been canceled not only were the actors and actresses extremely talented the writing was exceptional the show I think the only failure for ratings is the times that it was on and not a lot of publicity being done on promoting the show because oif more people watched it and knew about it they would’ve been hooked. I especially feel bad for the cast because they were exceptional in all aspects of the showe and you could tell that they enjoyed working with one another and I’m sad that they’re being judged and… Read more »
Very sad to hear imposters was cancelled I loved this show there’s nothing else like it on tv I would have definitely watched a season 3 I loved the story line I loved the dark humor and I loved how someone was always one step ahead of the game wish they kept it going!
Here we go yet again.
No natural wrap up of the story.
Season 2 did go a little astray in the story line but it was still a great show.
We deserve some form of wrap with the Doctor being taken down.
We need to keep the show!!!! It’s too great to let go!
I’m disappointed that Imposters was cancelled. It was a breath of fresh air and fun to watch! Hope someone else picks it up!
Sure hope that Imposters gets picked up elsewhere. Beautiful and interesting characters, and sharp and witty writing. Perfect mix of universal themes with the bizarre and wild side of life…
Loved, loved, loved this show! Hate to see it go. Really hope another network picks it up. Not ready to let go of these characters.
This is probably the best and smartest show on TV! I am totally confused.
Could not agree more!
This was my favorite show. I cannot watch another reality screaming match. I really hope someone picks this up.
I enjoyed the show. I am so tired of shows getting cancelled and the shows not having a chance to wrap it up.
Hopefully another network picks the show up.
Yes, we need to learn more about these fascinating characters, their antics, and how they are tortured by their Private demons.
