The CW isn’t keen on giving Katy Keene a second season. The smallest network has cancelled the drama series after one season of 13 episodes.
A spin-off of Riverdale, the series revolves around four creative twenty-somethings as they make their way in New York City — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger (Jonny Beauchamp), and mysterious “It Girl” Pepper Smith (Julia Chan).
The first season of Katy Keene averaged a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 480,000 viewers. Though other shows have had low numbers, The CW isn’t giving Kate Keene a second chance to improve its viewership. It is the only CW series of the 2019-20 season (other than those that were in their final seasons) to not receive a renewal.
However, Warner Bros. Television (the studio that produces the series), plans to shop the series elsewhere. According to Deadline, the cast’s options were extended for a month, until July 31st, while The CW decided the show’s fate. Now that the series has been officially cancelled, the studio will try to find a new home and close a deal this month. HBO Max, which carries the first season episodes, is considered to be a real possibility.
What do you think? Have you seen Katy Keene? Would you have watched season two of this drama series?
Katie Keene is a great show. Please keep it going. It’s so sad to see good shows go away.
Far better than Batwoman. Should be renewed for at least another year.
Katy Keene was a fun filled show. It brought a smile every time I watched it. I really hope we get the chance to see how these characters grow. Season 2 is definitely on my watch list.
I loved this show and would absolutely watch a second season! This show is a breath of fresh air, full of positivity and color, yet with surprises and intrigue. Our world needs more shows like this one, encouraging creativity and independence while honoring tradition. I hope the show finds a new home and gets a second season. I plan to watch and rewatch season one.
I loved it and gutted to hear it’s been cancelled
I enjoyed the show. I’d like to see the characters grow mire which only happens with new seasons. I don’t think HBO would be good. Mainly bc it’s a paid service that not all persons interested can afford or watch. HULU or Disney would be my thoughts b
Really like the show it had better ratings than some of CW others shows …I enjoyed it and I’m 68….so not for just teens. I will watch season two..Lucy Hale has a audience’s since Pretty Little Liers…
Same here. I’m 66 and loved it
I will be shocked and surprised if Katy Keane’s producer is able to get another channel to pick up the series.
Garbage series, if you wanna do a Riverdale spinoff, at least have the lead be somebody that fans know. A Josie and the Pussycats spinoff would have been 20 times better then some random that was introduced into the Archie Comics Universe in the last 10 years or so.
Agreed too many Archie comics for last 30 years add new characters need ended keep riverdale going awesome show nothing else.
Please spare us..just what we don’t need is another Stupid Teen show to continue!
This was a fun show and one of my guilty pleasures. I hope someone will pick it up. HBO, step up and take on this show that is great at showcasing all types of relationships and how they are accepted by all the characters.
I think Katy Keene should have a few more seasons as I think it is a very refreshing show.
Um … why don’t they shop it to HBO Max since they are both owned by Warner Media?
Not as edgy as All American. Too light.
I hope it finds a new home! It is a great show and I love it so much
