TV show description:
This gritty family drama revolves around the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and is set in a small family gym in Venice, California.
Alvey Kulina (Frank Grillo) owns and operates Navy St. MMA — a down and dirty storefront gym/do jo. A beloved MMA legend, he is a man of big appetites who came up in a savage world, when MMA was closer to human cockfighting than a mainstream sport. He is a true warrior, carved on the Mt. Rushmore of MMA, but he doesn’t have a dime to show for it.
He is in love with Lisa Prince (Kiele Sanchez), his girlfriend and business partner. She’s an extraordinary woman who’s always honest with him. She runs the gym with military precision, always looking for ways to keep it afloat. Years ago, Lisa met an MMA star named Ryan Wheeler. They fell in love and she fell into the world of fighting. When Ryan crashed and burned and tore down Lisa’s life, Alvey was there to pick her up.
Charming and intelligent, Ryan (Matt Lauria) is a former three-time, All-American wrestler and a world-class athlete. Four years ago, Ryan was on top of the world — until he landed in prison. When he shows up at Alvey’s gym after his release, he is a changed, humbled man. Despite the risks, Alvey sees the return of a superstar fighter as an opportunity that can change the fortune of his struggling gym.
While trying to keep his business afloat, Alvey is also trying to repair his fragile relationships with his sons. Jay (Jonathan Tucker) is the prized fighter at the gym and a bit of a loose cannon who likes to party a too hard. Youngest son Nate (Nick Jonas) is an up and comer in the world of MMA. He’s always looked up to his older brother but is his polar opposite; reserved, disciplined, and dedicated.
Christina Kulina (Joanna Going) is Alvey’s estranged wife, and mother to his sons. She is an engaging and beautiful woman, undone by mental illness and drug abuse. Her eldest son Jay blames Alvey for turning his back on his Christina, while her youngest son Nate barely remembers her.
Episode #40 — Lie Down in the Light
Alvey’s comeback fight couldn’t come at a worse time as Navy St. comes to grips with recent events. Roles are reversed when Ryan coaches Alvey, and Lisa begins a new chapter.
First aired: August 2, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Kingdom TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Once the show finishes its run, I wonder if the actors will allow themselves to gain weight. It’s got to be murder to stay so lean all the time. Even real MMA fighters are not normally this cut. Also, how do they wash off the tattoo’s that I assume are for the benefit of the show?
I look forward to each episode! The finally of season 2 was the best!
Kingdom is an excellent series and should be renewed, it has an superb cast, extraordinary directing & writing. Everything about Kingdom shouts “RENEW”
I think the Kingdom series should return. I really, really liked it. Very entertaining and has a lot of drama.
This show,KINGDOM is worthwhile to look forward to the 2nd season Get the word out it is as gripping as the Sopranoes, Breaking Bad, and House of Cards. Check out Kingdom on Direct TV the only way to go as well as for sports like MLB baseball and NBA pass.
I am not a cage fight fan, I first heard of this show from Michael Strahan. I watched it on direct TV one time. I wasintrigued and the actors were very convincing and Iwas hooked and binged watched the whole season in a two week period. YES it should be continued the storylines are engrossing. Because of this show I watched the documentary of Glena as of Glena Avilla and think she should be on an episode or two as it would enhance the reality ofthe show. TWO THUMPS UP for Kingdom and let the saga c ontinue. Further exposure… Read more »

I love the show and I can’t wait for it to be back on. I hope we don’t have to wait for long. I miss watching it. I love all of the actors and the story line. Thank you for the show “KINGDOM”.
This is a really, really good show. Can absolutely not be cancelled! The actors are great. I am not a fan of martial arts, fighting, violence ect… but I got hooked from the start. The characters are interesting as is the story line.

Tell all your MMA friends to watch the show and to write comments to this post. We just need a couple million more supporters and we may be able to sway the corporate types who have the final say in these matters.
Love the show. Would like to see more seasons.
I’m enjoying the show far more than I anticipated. I believe there are many roads the show can travel down, with many pilot twists to keep people watching. I will certainly continue watching.
I found this show a couple months ago and fell in love with the stories and the superb acting. Really, top-notch acting, very riveting performances. I love this show and hope it returns for at least a couple seasons more.
