Do you remember Leverage? Recently, executive producer Dean Devlin spoke with Assignment X about reviving the cancelled TNT TV show for IMDb tv.
The action crime drama followed Nathan Ford (Timothy Hutton), an insurance fraud investigator who uses his skills to run cons and help people who have been ripped off by corporations and government agencies. The series also stars Christian Kane, Aldis Hodge, Gina Bellman, and Beth Riesgraf. The original series ran on TNT from 2008 until 2012.
In the interview, Devlin confirmed Leverage is being revived for IMDBtv with some big changes. For starters, Hutton will not be part of the revival but Noah Wylie will be joining the cast:
I wouldn’t say he’s taking over for Timothy Hutton, but Noah Wyle is joining the show. He’s a new character that allows us to take the show in a new direction. While the previous incarnation of the show was a crusade for revenge, this season with be a redemption adventure, inspired by the addition of this new character.”
Devlin then revealed the new season will have the same structure as the first season of Leverage and IMDb tv has ordered 13 episodes:
We will be going back to the original five act structure of the first season. The six-act structure is really a bear and we’re thrilled we can return to the original format.
This is a sort of reimagining. It’s derived from the original but it’s a new show. That’s why we’re calling it LEVERAGE 2.0.”
Production on the new season of Leverage is supposed to begin sometime this summer in New Orleans.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the original Leverage TV show? Will you watch the revival?
I loved Leverage! It would be great to see this new show!
ABSOLUTELY! Have been binge watching all the past episodes! Love the show
Yes Loved the show Leverage still watch the reruns when shown. Sorry Mr Hutton won’t be part of the revival. He was a key part of the original.
I agree!
I’ve been watching Leverage in syndication since it went off the air. I love that show. I’m sorry about Tim Hutton but I will definitely watch a new version!
I watch Leverage everyday on my mobile phone. In fact I worked in the Pearl District of Portland at the time where a lot of scenes were filmed, nice to see familiar sights. Such a smart, whitty program. I just loved it!!!!! I beg of you to bring it back. Please have Timothy Hutton show up, too if he isn’t going to be a regular again. Love Timothy Hutton!!!
I would like to know why you deleted my comment I made earlier I wasn’t disrespectful I was telling the truth I like the old leverage I’m not going to watch a new leverage adorn the four original cast member I don’t like Noah wyle and I do feel Dean Devin disrespected Timothy Hutton I know you not going to post it you going to delete the first comment I made.
I will not watch the new leverage adore the four original cast members but I’m not a fan of that Noah wyle and I think Dean Devlin disrespected Timothy Hutton good luck to the show but I was stick to the the original leverage.
This sounds great!!
Looking forward to the new Leverage.
I LOVE that show I’ve watched & I’m still watching it. I hope I can watch it online
Looking forward to Leverage….loved the show!
I’ll check it out, even though I’m a big fan of Timothy Hutton and he won’t be in the show. I’m curious to see how it will go. I was a big fan of the show
I will definitely be watching. Can’t wait to see how they explain Nate’s absence.
I will watch the show because I am a huge fan of Noah Wyle!
Loved Leverage, Love Christian Kane and Dean Devlin, so long as IMDb let them do their thing without interfering it’s guaranteed to be a hit, only shame is imdbtv isn’t available outside the USA and I live in the U.K.
I cannot wait to see the new Leverage 2.0. I’m sadden by the fact that Timothy Hutton won’t be returning the cast, but I hope that Noah Wylie will do the best job he can cause you can’t really replace the character Nate. I love, love, really love the original cast, but open to see what new adventures that’s in store for us. I watch Leverage every night so I am a really big fan. I really don’t want to be disappointed so again I’m ready for the new adventures. I will be watching.
There will be ways to watch it in the UK
Loved the original and am looking forward to the new series.
