If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
Madam Secretary is one of the best shows you have on your network. There is so much trash on TV and it just keeps going on. We need quality shows not crappy shows of people dancing or singing in a suit none of that does anything for me. I would continue watching Madam Secretary .
Good show need to continue as Madam President.
One of the most worthwhile shows gets cancelled?!? Why, why, why??? It’s so up-to-date, and one of extremely few shows on TV that portrays a healthy marriage. I would watch another–MANY–seasons! Please don’t say this is the end!
REALLY??? CBS in their stupid wisdom is canceling this series??!!! They make us wait and wait for it to come back from vacation or whatever and then end it??!!! I was already ticked off at CBS execs for what they have done to Star Trek (putting it in All Access) and now they take the only other show they air worth watching and end it??!!! Get a life CBS!!!
I truly enjoyed this show. I am sorry that it is ending!
This show has been one of my favorites!!!! Tea Leone is is one of those wonderful actore who can convey an entire paragraph with just a look! Her unique and refreshing style is going to be truly missed. The entire cast deserves an applause for their superb acting skills!
Madame “Secretary” is one of the best programs on TV. It should definitely be continued in series six with a full set of episodes. It will be a challenge to transpose it into a Madame President TV program. but it would be worth the effort to try, and if successful, it could continue for another couple of years or so, Some of her staff may have to go (or have minimized roles). Besides being entertaining, it provides insights into the types of “external” factors that influence government policies and actions.
Really sad to see Madam Secretary go – it’s such a good show we watch it faithfully. The Network doesn’t say why they are cancelling it. Hard to find decent shows to watch.
I love the show, to bad they can’t keep it going.
I hate to see this show go. So many other shows are much worse than this one and they stay on. Always happens take away the good and leave the bad.
I really hate to see it go. One of my favorites. Too bad, so many story lines left to pursue
Love the show. When is it airing this Fall? Will be very sorry to see it go.
Just change the title to Madam President.
I enjoy and respect this program on every level.
Our entire family loves this show! Young and old alike!
