If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
Madame Secretary is an intelligent show, inspiring to all women. I have rented past episodes through Netflix this summer, looking forward to a new season. Please do not end !
Madame Secretary is an intelligent show, inspiring to all women. I’ve ordered past shows thru Netflix over the summer and now really looking forward to future shows. Please do not end!
I would watch several more seasons of Madame Secretary (MS). It’s a great show. I’m disappointed this is the final season. The cast is terrific. The story lines are well written and informative. People who don’t understand much about how our government works are getting a good education from MS.
Please reconsider decision to cancel MS.
Madame Secretary is inspiring to do many, especially women! It’s thought provoking and challenges the heart and mind of America to realize that although everything we might see on the show might not be real it makes us think and feel for everyone, not just ourselves. Please reconsider, I look forward to seeing the show every Sunday night and love Tea Leoni!
Definitely want a Madam President! LOVE this show! I can’t imagine the network not having the viewership and sponsorship needed?! AND This show is needed to inspire young girls and women! Please reconsider!
I agree with you, the best show on TV about to show a woman becoming President. They should keep it going
As bright and intelligent as this series is, I guess the current administration is giving us a better drama.
We love this show, one of our favorites. It is possibly the most intelligent show on TV, with lessons on honesty, integrity, and tough choices, and done with wonderful performances and great dialog. It will be sad to lose it. We would definitely watch more seasons.
I love the show and I hope it becomes Madame President.
I love Madam Secretary!! Stream from the beginning all the time. So much good in this show – why ending already? Great acting and very believable story lines. Please reconsider!!
Madam secretary is one of our favorite shows. It is too soon to have it end!!!!!
I most certainly would watch another season…or two or three. This is a great show. Great writing, superlative acting. Drama, suspense. It has everything I want good TV show. What a pity that CBS is letting it go.
One of the very few great, intelligent, enjoyable programs on tv. Rather than end the show, I believe it should be moved to a better time slot. Really disappointed….
I have ALWAYS enjoyed Madame Secretary and saddened to learn this is the last season coming up. Characters are so real– face daily challenges–even the children. I’ve enjoyed watching the three of them grow and mature–. And I believe the story line has followed the present situations our nation has faced– the stories do not mimic the daily news but have a real “feel” for what our nation has been about in the last few years.
I am beyond disappointed that Madame Secretary is ending. It is THE best show on television. How could you do this to your loyal viewers?
