If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
I was very disappointed to learn that there will be no seventh season of this well-done show. Surely there is room in your hearts to reconsider your decision.
I’m sorry to see this show end. It is the best thing on TV.
Madam Secretary is one of the few well written intelligent shows on television. I do not want it to end!
I love the show and am very sorry it is ending. I hope tonight
12/8/19 isn’t the last show. Really liked seeing the former actors that are no longer on the show.
My favorite program. A very refreshing view of Washington DC. Would love to view season 7. The cast is won
Please save Madame Secretary and renew for a seventh season!
Sad to see it go
Love this show!! Look forward to it every week. Very disappointed that CBS made this decision. Very few CBS shows that I watch …. guess none now!!
I love the show and have always loved to watch TL. I know it worked partly due to relevance to current events. I also wondered how it would work if things calmed down with a new president in this country. I hope V-CBS brings Madame President back when the time is right. I also hope conservative values at the top don’t start interfering with future TV programming. A great group of actors.
so sorry to hear Season 6 is ending the show. Madam Secretary is the BEST show on TV; the writers are excellent with the storyline. LOVE the show! Please don’t cancel it. Tea and Tim are awesome! How she deals with other leaders is refreshing. It reveals what a true President (or any leader) should be like. I would watch this show for another 6 seasons.
We love the show and am sad to see it go. We would certainly watch more eposodes.
I have watched this since the beginning. I think this is a good show. I wished you were not canceling.
Seems like whenever there is an intelligent, well-written show, they cancel it. I guess I should be glad they let it go for 6 seasons. I cried when The Newsroom was cancelled after only three seasons. Both of these programs are/were engaging re: what is happening both in the world and in the lives of the characters. Look at what CBS has on for ages….Blue Bloods…nevermind. Thanks for putting it on for 6 seasons, CBS. I should be happy there is anything decent on regular TV. Thank God for cable.
I love this show! And I am so sorry that it has been canceled. The actors and the story lines are great and give a realistic perspective into our political environment. Tea Leoni is great as Madam Secretary/President. This is the only show I actually sit down to watch when it comes on instead of recording it. I will miss this Sunday evening entertainment. This is the best thing since West Wing.
Agree that it is/was as good as West Wing.
totally agree….why cancel a show this GOOD? with great writers and actors; love the storyline and it shows how a country should be run with morals.
Loved this show. It gave us a interesting although imaginary view of modern politics. I seriously wonder how the networks think we as viewers will respect their advertisers when the network disrespects us viewers. I love this show and would never buy any product that supports a network that would take this show off the air.
