If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
Yes, I love the show. i not only want a season 7, but 4 more seasons after that one.
MSec is the best show on TV. CBS just made the worst mistake by cancelling it.
Where is their head. they do not know a good thing when they have it.
Put it back on Right after 60 minutes, and see the ratings go WAY up.
Quit surveying 18-49 year olds. ask the older generation !
Madam Secretary is one of the shows that I favor. I always look forward to Sunday nights when it is on. I will be sad to see the last episode, but then perhaps it will be on syndication and I will be able to watch reruns. I love Tea and Tim, they have such great chemistry onscreen, and best of all, the stories are relevant. Our real life politicians can learn much from the show.
I love Madam Secretary, and I’m expecting a spin-off after season 6: “Madam President”
I love this show & wish it would continue with President McCord adventures.
Hate to see show canceled. We looked forward to each episode. Wish you had made the decision to continue with seventh season.
I look forward to watching this show and would hope to watch Madam President for at least two four-year terms
One of the best drama shows on TV that is not full of sex, bad language or graphic violence.
Spin off as Madam President with virtually the same cast!!!
Why not change it to Madam President and continue the show that way. It is a very good show with a great cast and story lines.
Did love the show as we watched on Netflix and would binge sometimes a season in a sitting.
How about a new show to follow as President now…
I agree with the other posts that a spin off would be wonderful to see where her and her staff could go and do.So please CBS consider a spinoff
Sad to see the series canceled. In my opening a spin-off is warranted and could be Madam President.
I wish the present political climate was more like the fictional one in Madame Secretary. To answer the questions: Yes and Yes. Although I use MS as a weekly “‘palate cleanser” for the actual Veep like shananigans of our present political climate, the next season should bring about satisfactory conclusion.
I would love if CBS decides to make a spin-off where Madam Secretary has become, Madam President with her now staff playing some part as She being the President. I am most definitely will miss Madam Secretary but think that its awful that when ending a series that CBS find necessary to cut the episodes to always to 10. It not only is just slapping the fans in the face with a rush job to say good-bye but it is never closure because we can’t feel any real sincerity that this is how it really ends for each character nor… Read more »
I would go for madam Pres sounds good to me
Another great show we enjoy going away. Agree with previous poster that a Madam President spin-off would be excellent!!!
