If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE MADAM SECRETARY!!!
I will totally miss watching it.
PLEASE let her win the presidency even if there isn’t a 7th season.
We love this show and have been advocating season 6 for months! We will enjoy what we can get, and hope there might be a Madam President in he future!
We love this show. We are very disappointed to learn that there will be no 7th season. It is smart and compelling and it has helped us survive the past 2 years.
Brilliant show and great acting why do they have to cancel something we all enjoy so much
Love the show. It’s educational and inspiring. I would definitely watch a season 7.
Love it – please keep it going
I’m sorry Madam Secretary has to end at all, but I can understand and am glad that they’re giving us 10 episodes in Season 6 instead of 6. White Collar was cut way too short by USA. I would’ve watched Season 7, but thank you anyway for the closure. I hope she wins the election. ☺
Great show. CBS don’t cancel a winner.
Great show so sad. Why would you cancel a winner? Don’t cancel
Hate to see the series end. Enjoyed the program tremendously. With very little tv programming that is “worth” watching, this program is enjoyable while educational regarding our country government.
Would definitely continue to watch a seventh season. Tremendous performance by all the cast.
I love the show,I would watch season 7.At least if they wrap it up,ill be happy.
I think cbs needs to clear out their offices & let madam secretary run the show
Good show! Take away your reality knock offs
So bummed show is exiting. I love this show and look forward to it every Sunday. The people on the show are much smarter and more civilized than what we have in office currently. I know they’re just actors. The writing is smart. Maybe the current administration should watch the show and could probably learn a thing or two. Well, maybe not. I forgot, he knows best. Please don’t leave.
This show is so relevant to today’s politics. The ethics that are presented show what our government should be
I am so disappointed that this show is being cancelled. The show presents what our country should be.
The writing and acting is superb.
I love the show! One of the best on television! I strongly believe that it would have been way more popular if it was on earlier. Sunday nights at 10pm is very late for most workers and the worst part is when a football game or golf tournament goes on too long and pushes the show 1/2 hour or more later. I missed several episodes because I just didn’t want to stay up that late even though I’m retired! I will look forward to a spin-off!!!
