A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
The fifth season of Madam Secretary averaged a 0.56 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.41 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 9% and 12%, respectively.
Out of the 26 scripted CBS TV shows of the 2018-19 season, Madam Secretary is in 24th place in the demo and 18th place in total viewership.

What do you think? Do you enjoy the Madam Secretary TV show? Will you be watching season six of this CBS drama series?
Yes, I will definitely watch as many seasons as you produce!!!! My husband and I are hooked!!!!!
Yes!!! I will define watch!!! I’m hooked!!!
Love this show!
Absolute love it!
Maybe the time slot had something to do with its ratings. I waited all week to watch MS. I did record it but it never started on time in the fall do to football running over. There was a couple of episodes I had to record 3 shows to see one episode. I couldn’t always do that. I can’t tell you how many shows I missed the last 5, 10, sometimes 30 minutes of the show. Recent shows were never on CBS on Demand. The cast was excellent. I’m really disappointed.
Yes, I have enjoyed Madam Secretary since the beginning. I will miss the show when gone. Not much worth watching on TV anymore.
Why are they always cancelling good shows like Madame Secretary and giving us cheap like reality TV? Why not just change the name to Madame President and continue with it. I am so sick of these stupid(scripted) reality shows!!!
I totally agree with Jude. 18-49? Does life end there?! We’re living longer ‘folks’ and we’re watching TV, especially quality shows like Madam Secretary!
I really enjoy this show and feel like it’s too bad everything we watch seems to be controlled by the 18-49 demographic. Funny how the networks haven’t figured out that retirees watch more tv, have more spendable income and might be a much better bet
Yes I will. I love the show but wish it wasn’t on so late A I love the Sunday lineup but when football is late everything gets backed up
This show is one of my favorites. It demonstrates what a Secretary of State does, the strategies used to solve the issues. This year the Secretary of State has become President and it is a whole new ballgame. Educational and entertaining..never miss an episode…great cast..well produced and directed.
This is an excellent show. Forget the 49 age cutoff for viewership. Many of us are retirees. I know of many younger people who couldn’t watch it because the FOOTBALL pushes the 10 p.m. program to after 11. Not fair to MADAM SECRETARY! Why haven’t you placed this program on another night like you do for many others??????????
top notch love this show.
Love this progressive show.
This is one of our favorite shows on tv. The acting is terrific & the character development outstanding. Can’t wait for season to start.
