What’s next for Nashville? Deadline reports the ABC series’ new showrunners have set up a writers room for season five.
Currently in the middle of its fourth season, the country music drama has not officially been renewed for a fifth season yet. Though, the hiring of new showrunners, Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, suggests ABC will order another season.
According to Deadline, both Zwick and Herskovitz have set up a writers room to get a headstart on season five in case the series is renewed. The drama’s current showrunner, Dee Johnson, is leaving after season four.
While Nashville‘s ratings aren’t as high as they used to be—season four is averaging a 1.00 in the 18-49 demo and 4.281 million viewers—it is still likely the show will return.

The show would have done better for ABC if they would not have put it on a five week break.It also shows me that they do not give a damn about their viewers,its only about the Benjamin’s.Nashville was a great show that showcased the best music coming out of Nashville,and the city of Nashville also helped the show.Sorry for the stupidity of network brass as they will put alot of crap on instead because it is cheaper to do.
When the program went awol, I thought it was gone, and I was VERY disappointed. So very happy to have it back!!! Do please keep Nashville on the air…the writing, plot lines, content, and especially the characters, families, and their interactions, and music, are extremely appealing…must see TV!!
I love Nashville – still a lot more to tell. Love their songs and all the actors especially Deacon and Rayna.

We have watched NASHVILLE from the first episode…we love it! Yes, the writers need to stop going in 50 directions for an one hour show!!!! The singing, song writing, couples…we love!!!! Just put some drama that completes one before jumping to another story…moves too fast!!!! WE WANT NASHVILLE NOT TO GIVE UP ON IT….AWESOME SINGING/PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP on this show!!!! Add new writers with clarity & direction…this show has amazing potential!!!!!!

I have enjoyed the show, but it gets soapier and soapier. Rather see it focus more on the music and have the drama and humor more along the lines of other excellent nighttime dramatic programming. If I liked suds, I’d watch daytime tv
I think the fans are wanting more music and more “industry related information/drama” and less of the “family drama” that really does happen, but isn’t as interesting. It’s a hard call when you only have an hour to fill once a week.
