Tonight marks the end of the Once Upon a Time TV show and it sounds like there will be no shortage of happy endings. While the show has had a good-sized run of seven seasons (six and a “reboot” of sorts), the series still has lots of devoted fans. Would you like to see the show return in some way?
A fairy tale drama airing on the ABC television network, the seventh season of Once Upon a Time stars Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, Colin O’Donoghue, Andrew J. West, Gabrielle Anwar, Dania Ramirez, Alison Fernandez, and Mekia Cox. The many guest stars this season include former series regulars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Jared Gilmore, and Rebecca Mader. In the story, seasoned Enchanted Forest denizens must help an adult Henry (West) and his daughter, Lucy (Fernandez), battle evil and return hope to their world and ours. And of course, they’ll have to deal with yet another pesky curse.
After wrapping the story up with a nice bow in season six, the executive producers had hoped that a “new” story would breathe new life into the series. It didn’t really work out that way in the ratings. Of course, it didn’t help that Once Upon a Time was moved to Fridays nights.
Season seven has averaged a 0.50 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.31 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 47% and down by 27%, respectively. These numbers are a far cry from the show’s early season ratings so, it’s no surprise that the producers were told to wrap things up in plenty of time for them to make a fitting finale.
Still, there could have been more story to tell. “The finale was going to be what we were going to do, and then we’re just not doing the cliffhanger,” says executive producer Edward Kitsis, who reveals they did have a pitch for a potential season eight. “It was never heard,” he adds before quipping, “We’ll save it for the spin-off when they approach us in two years.”
While Kitsis may have been joking about ABC wanting a spin-off in two years, stranger things have happened and it’s hard to imagine that someone won’t revisit Storybrooke at some point in the future.
What do you think? Would you watch a new Once Upon a Time spin-off, reboot, or a revival someday?
They really need to put this show to rest. They lost their way over the years and there’s a reason why cast members were jumping off this sinking ship. I was never much of a fan to begin with, i thought it was hokey and corny at times and I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. And spin offs would fail just like the one they tried before and got canceled after 1 season.
Although I enjoyed Once Upon a Time, I would not watch a revival or Spin-
off
absolutely the sooner the better!!!
Yes I would
Gave up on this show when it started to repeat itself, again. It started off as a fairy tale, as in Once Upon a Time. Then it simply became a Disney commercial with bad plots. It lost its glimmer quite a few years ago. RIP.
Yes, only if the original cast would be on and Regina would finally find her true love! I didn’t like how it ended with her.
I would not watch a Spin-Off of this Series. They Tried a Spin-off and it failed. So all those who say they would watch a spin-off must have forgotten about the fail they had with Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. This show was only good up until the fourth season. Then after that it just lost what made it good in the first place. No Point beating a dead horse here people. Just let this thing die and move on to a new series that will eventually get cancelled before it had a good run.
I have watched from the very beginning but feel like this has now been played out. The convoluted way they connected characters was just mind boggling. I mean really, Captain Hook is Alice in Wonderlands father? And Cinderella with an author? Where did her prince go? It was just stretching out the inevitable. Seems like the Marvel heroes would be joining the crowd to keep it going like this. So smile at the happy endings & know we all enjoyed a fun show.
I would watch a revival. But most likely the show would be left to someone else instead of A&E cause they both said they in their recent interview that they might not be part of it. It I am not sure if they will do another reboot or spin-off cause of how their former ones have lost a lot of ratings, despite how a few viewers enjoyed them. Also, if they do a revival, most likely some of the plots from the past seasons including the ending of the finale would be ignored, reinvented, revised, reworked, & re-thought. Which like… Read more »
Yes I would love to see the original characters again and know how their lives are doing.
I would love it if there where a all new spin off I think the spin off should be Aladdin or Narnia or have them bring back once upon a time in wonderland and I hope whatever spin off they come up with I hope we will get to see all Jared And Andrew guess appearance as Henry every now and then and i hope all the rest of them will all so make a guess appearance on the spin off..
Yes, of course I would . I’m very disappointed the show was cancelled
