Tonight marks the end of the Once Upon a Time TV show and it sounds like there will be no shortage of happy endings. While the show has had a good-sized run of seven seasons (six and a “reboot” of sorts), the series still has lots of devoted fans. Would you like to see the show return in some way?
A fairy tale drama airing on the ABC television network, the seventh season of Once Upon a Time stars Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, Colin O’Donoghue, Andrew J. West, Gabrielle Anwar, Dania Ramirez, Alison Fernandez, and Mekia Cox. The many guest stars this season include former series regulars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Jared Gilmore, and Rebecca Mader. In the story, seasoned Enchanted Forest denizens must help an adult Henry (West) and his daughter, Lucy (Fernandez), battle evil and return hope to their world and ours. And of course, they’ll have to deal with yet another pesky curse.
After wrapping the story up with a nice bow in season six, the executive producers had hoped that a “new” story would breathe new life into the series. It didn’t really work out that way in the ratings. Of course, it didn’t help that Once Upon a Time was moved to Fridays nights.
Season seven has averaged a 0.50 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.31 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 47% and down by 27%, respectively. These numbers are a far cry from the show’s early season ratings so, it’s no surprise that the producers were told to wrap things up in plenty of time for them to make a fitting finale.
Still, there could have been more story to tell. “The finale was going to be what we were going to do, and then we’re just not doing the cliffhanger,” says executive producer Edward Kitsis, who reveals they did have a pitch for a potential season eight. “It was never heard,” he adds before quipping, “We’ll save it for the spin-off when they approach us in two years.”
While Kitsis may have been joking about ABC wanting a spin-off in two years, stranger things have happened and it’s hard to imagine that someone won’t revisit Storybrooke at some point in the future.
What do you think? Would you watch a new Once Upon a Time spin-off, reboot, or a revival someday?
For the record Trevor, you don’t know if they were joking about any Poseidon’s reunion. That’s false saying it’s a joke. Ginnifer Goodwin was not joking from another interview and she made a mention of a possible reunion two years or so. That was no joke, so this hints it may not be.
I love this show…i wish it was cancelled. I would watch it if it came back.
Wish it was? You mean “you wish it wasn’t cancelled”.
I miss the show so much… it was unique and very special to me, it held a special place in my heart. It was different from any other tv show (fantasy included) and it really gave people one hour of MAGIC. There are at least hundreds of thousands oncers all over the world feeling sad right now, because their fav show won’t come back this fall. It deserved another season, it deserved more seasons. Please bring it back, make spin offs, there are endless possibilities with all these amazing characters..
Nah, after season 6 when half the talent bailed they should have ended it. I only kept watching for Robert Carlyle, and only a few episodes at that. He’s a great actor, but he can’t carry a show by himself (nor should he have to).
I miss this show so much. To me if it doesnt have naked people running around or someone cheating on his wife or killing then you csncel it. Please bring this sjow back PLEASE
I wish there is season of once upon a time even when they did alice in wonderland.
I was just getting used to the new reboot. It was improving (or growing on me). Yes I would have watched another season or more.
Me too….many more
No. I LOVE Once Upon A Time but seasons 1-6 are timeless. Revivals are usually used to modernize stuff and the story has come to a natural conclusion. I would not come back, unfortunately.
No it was not a natural conclusion. If you paid attention, it was left open-ended. Which makes it not a real natural conclusion.
Yes I would love to see a revival of “Once Upon a Time”. My husband and I both loved the show and its actors. It is so sad that it was cancelled.
I personally would not watch either. I don’t want to see things I loved get retconned and destroyed which more then likely would happen if they did either especially since it would have to be with new writers and not Adam and Eddy.
Well they may have to some retconning if some of these plots/characters/couples from the past seasons did not help boost numbers. So there may be no choice.
Yes I would! I love this show
Yes I would watch a revival or a spin off once upon a time ..I enjoy watching this show
No the show should have ended a year ago. This last year has just been painful to watch and the ratings seem to bare that out.
I would definitely watch a Revival or a spin – off of the ABC Series “Once Upon a Time : I’m sad to see it go. It’s such a brilliant show with Fabulous writing Directors and a Marvelous Cast.!!!
yes – the new cast was growing on me – i thought it got better – the ending was nice though
