What’s This TV Show About?
A Starz time travel drama, Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. The cast also includes Tobias Menzies, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, Laura Donnelly, Steven Cree, Grant O’Rourke, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton.
Outlander, season three, is based on the third novel in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series, Voyager. It picks up right after Claire (Balfe) leaves Jamie (Heughan) behind in the 18th century. Once she travels through the stones, back to her life in 1948, she has a lot to work out. Now expecting Jamie’s baby, Claire must deal with her first husband, Frank (Menzies), and his reaction to her disappearance and return. Meanwhile, back in time, Jamie struggles with the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the Battle of Culloden, as well as the loss his soul mate.
Season Three Ratings
The third season of Outlander averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.51 viewers. Compared to season two, that’s up by 46% and up by 39%, respectively. Learn how Outlander stacks up against other Starz TV shows.
On June 1, 2016, Outlander was renewed through its fourth season which will debut November 4, 2018. On May 8, 2018, Starz renewed Outlander through season six. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Fans don’t have to worry if Outlander will be cancelled or renewed for season four. Starz already picked up the fourth installment, back in 2016. And although its demo numbers dropped off slightly in season two, the total audience grew. Since Starz relies on paid subscribers, not ad revenue, it cares more about the latter measure. I purchase Starz year round to watch OUTLANDER. I watch at Midnight on the first showing then with my husband on Sunday night. Then again with a friend and at least 2 other times during the week before the new episode airs. At these times I also look for other Starz shows to watch. We enjoy other Starz shows but WILL CANCEL if OUTLANDER is not continued.
I love Outlander! I’ve read the books, which are great, and I feel the writers are doing a good job keeping the story moving along. Sam and Caitriona are perfect for Jamie and Clair. The entire cast is excellent. If Starz cancels Outlander, I cancel Starz. I have turned my family and friends on to Outlander; it is the best show on tv!
We really enjoy Outlander and was so glad to see it continue. We enjoy it as much as we did Black Sails which was awesome. Please keep it going Starz!
If the writers continue to stray from the books and just write their own story line, then it might be better to just cancel the series. The first year they followed the book and it was great….this year stunk! Almost 70% of it was pure garbage that had nothing to do with what Diana Gabaldon had written.
I have read the books and it would do everyone a terrible injustice to leave people hanging without finishing the story….Diana Gabaldon has written 8 books with 2 to go…we definitely need all of the books and when 10 seasons are finished , Starz could start another new series with the John Gray books.
This show is the best series on TV and thanks to Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe for bringing Jamie and Claire to life.
Enjoy the Outlander series. Have read all the books. Will be disapppinted if the series is cancelled. Would like to see more period series such as Black Sails , White Princess and others added to a new line up . Will cancel STARZ if Outlander is dropped.
I have Starz because of Outlander…since watching Outlander I have now read the books, so I am actiously awaiting season 4, 5 and the rest of the books. Hopefully Diana Galbadon will finish book 9 and end with book 10. Have to know about Jamie’s ghost looking up at Claire in the window in 1943. I might cancel my subscription to Starz if they cancel this outstanding series
I have stars just for Outlander they cancel it I will cancel them.
I love Outlander ….I buy the series on DVD ….the calendars for myself and all my sisters ….renew renew for as long as there are books to re -tell the story….I think there are 9 ….write more !!!

Absolutely adore Outlander. I live in the uk and only found out about the show a few months ago. Currently watching via dvd, season 3 preordered. I will be signing up to Amazon in order to stream season 4 plus purchasing the dvd. It is fantastic.
I started watching Outlander at a friend’s home I had to come back to Missouri and Order Stars enjoy watching it very much I hope it continues
