TV show description:
This TV show revolves around Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), an eccentric and brilliant neuroscience professor. Unfortunately, his mind is also damaged and he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Pierce struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia. Oddly though, he considers some of his hallucinations to be a gift. They occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can’t yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Pierce’s greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways.
Still, he’s recruited by FBI agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) to help solve complex cases. Pierce has an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the way the mind works. He also has an uncanny ability to see patterns and can look past people’s conscious emotions to see what lies beneath. Kate is Pierce’s former student and, unlike her colleagues, she’s willing to look past his peculiarities.
Pierce’s mental condition and offbeat manner make it difficult for him to achieve the close friendships and intimate relationships he craves.
Those close to him include Max Lewicki (Arjay Smith), his teaching assistant. Max’s primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task, whether that means grading midterms or laying out his boss’ wardrobe for the day. Natalie Vincent (Kelly Rowan) is Pierce’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal. Paul Haley (LeVar Burton) is the dean at Pierce’s university and one of his few friends.
Pierce is in his element when solving an intricate puzzle or a coded message. But in unfamiliar situations, he can quickly become overwhelmed, and only his favorite music and a crossword puzzle have the power to make things right again.
Episode #39 — Run
When Moretti goes missing the day of her wedding, Pierce and Donnie set off in pursuit of the runaway bride. They soon learn that Kate has been abducted by a dangerous person from Pierce’s own past. Pierce and Donnie risk everything to save Moretti before it’s too late.
First aired: March 17, 2015
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
One of my favorite shows. Makes me very sad.
Absolutely insane that this show is being cancelled. It is witty, fast paced, humorous at time and touching at other times. Not all TV shows have to be popular with the 18-30 year ol age range, you should know.
Very sad they are cancelling Perception…really like this show…sure wish all that do like the show could persuade them to not cancel it. 🙂
perception is a great, and original show. have loved it from the first episode. Am extremely upset it is cancelled. absolutely feel should have been renewed. very disappointed.
I am gutted that Perception has been cancelled, one of the best shows on television
Thanks to “admin” for the ultra swift response to my plea … I hate to admit it but it sounds like a foreseeable ending to your fantastic show … My opinion, thank you …
i like the show as well and am somewhat mystified at cancellation. This isn’t edgier programming? Perhaps it is because people have a problem identifying with a central character suffering from a mental illness. Hope not, as my daughter’s first novel, coming out in April, deals with same subject.
I would like a definitive statement by the powers that be over @ TNT on the future of the TV show
“Perception” … is that too much to ask ? If anyone knows of the existence of same, please let me know.
Thanks !
Their press release for the 3/17 episode calls it the “series finale.” That’s likely as much official confirmation as you’re going to get.
Kamramna: Don’t hold your breath on hearing from “the voices that be” at TNT. I have read hundreds of “do not cancel” comments, & TNT, like most politicians, turns a blind eye to the viewers and their input. It’s so disrespectful, unprofessional, & just proves what we believe their IQ is. Like those on the “Hill,” many program managers & CEOs should be replaced. Kudos to “Perception,” the actors, Eric McCormack, Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith, Kelly Rowan, and LeVar Burton; and the crew for giving us a glimpse into intelligent viewing.
I have received a reply in the guise of “admin” read it for yourselves folks … The show is cancelled, kaput, finito understand now , well do huh _???
I think it should have been renewed highly upset 5
This show is provocative, deep, and interesting. I really hope it continues for a fourth, fifth, and even sixth season. Far better than many other series out there right now!
I am so unhappy about this show being canceled. TV only go after the young with reality crap . An intelligent show is canceled. Tnt is very short sited.
Save this show. We love it our house. So different from the other fare available.
Love the show. Extremely disappointed that it was cancelled. There are so many really bad shows that should be cancelled and the networks always seem to cancel the really good ones. Get rid of some of the terrible reality shows and keep Perception.
i love this show why would u take it off the polls are not for just the youngsters how about the older generation we watch tv keep perception on get creative dont end something that could only get better with a little more creative writting
I agree with all the other posters. It’s an intelligent show ( can’t we have a few of those??) and Eric has never been better. Hope there’s still time to reconsider and keep it on!! BTW, it would help to keep an audience if shows didn’t move around and come and go all the time!!
