Was tonight’s episode the end for the Salvation TV show? Viewers of the CBS summer drama series were likely shocked by tonight’s finale and it seems unlikely that the cliffhanger will ever be resolved. Do you think the network should renew Salvation for a third season, despite some very low ratings?
A CBS suspense drama, Salvation, stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Melia Kreiling, Ashley Thomas, and Ian Anthony Dale. The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Cabrera), who discover that in six months, a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth. In season two, the truth is out. Now that it is no longer a secret, the impending threat elicits both the best and worst from humanity.
The TV series debuted in July 2017 and drew pretty mediocre ratings right from the start with a 0.70 rating in the 18-489 demographic and 4.90 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get any better as the season progressed and ended up averaging a 0.52 in the demo with 3.53 million. Despite the lackluster ratings, Salvation scored a second season renewal.
In season two, the ratings have been even lower. The 12 episodes that have aired thus far have averaged a 0.33 demo rating with 2.67 million viewers. Compared to the first season’s numbers, that’s down by 38% and 24%, respectively.
It’s unclear if CBS Television Studios has a special streaming deal that would help reduce some of the production costs for this series (ala Zoo) but it seems clear that the regular commercial ratings aren’t strong enough to land Salvation a third season.
But, what do you think? Do you think that Salvation should be cancelled or, renewed for a third season — despite the low ratings? Would you watch season three?
This is a great show. The last episode of Season 2 is absolutely mind-blowing at the end!! We need more shows like this one, and more of this one! Season 3, please!!
The Season 2 ender was BRILLIANT!!! I want this show to come back so bad!! I know if Tanz’ bizarre behavior was alien influence!! Please don’t leave us all hanging!
Great show! Is a family favorite.
Love this show. Totally it should be renewed for Season 3 – need to know WTH that thing was if not an asteroid ! CBS RENEW IT PLEASEEEEEEE
Salvation should be renewed for a 3rd Season. My husband and I love absolutely love it. Keep it going PLEASE!
I love this show…yes, to a third season. QUESTION: WHAT WAS THE FINAL WORD SAID BY Tanz? Tried many times to replay.
‘Here’ 🙂
One of the few shows that are in early seasons that I watch. I dont start watching shows until they have a few seasons under their belt. Too many get canceled too soon.
I most definitely would watch a season 3 of salvation. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons.
I would definitely watch season 3. I love the show and I don’t like cliff hangers that aren’t answered
Can’t get enough! The writers did one hell of a job with this one. Many stories in one big plot. Irritated yet another great and captivating show, I love, is cancelled. Maybe Netflix, Hulu or amazon will pick it up if CBS isn’t smart enough to bring it back.
yes it should be renew great show
Salvation should 100% be renewed for a third season. In a world full of vacuous reality shows that further turn the population into mindless, shallow, meme obsessed sheep, having a show that not only celebrates intelligence and problem solving, but also is brave enough to bring a huge element of unexpected mystery relating to a potential intelligence aside from humans into it’s finale is exactly what should be being funded right now. Beautifully written, charismatic characters, superb acting and excellent twists and plot all the way through. It also offers a compelling insight into the reality of how different factions… Read more »
I agree with you on everything –> 1000%x1000% 😀 — the series should definitely be renewed. The Season Finale was awesome but … want more !
Would watch that anyday, and its so popular show on netflix here in india, We youngsters love that show…Please CBS must make another 5 seasons
That’s the problem of plot with an ELE.
Either it happends => the end.
Or it doesn’t happend => the End.
They manage to find a third way… not convinced.
And the episode 13 was rushed like hell but managed to give some kind of end if the shoq is not renewed. We mus give credit to the writers for that.
If renewed, I’ll probably watch if not, not the end of the world 😉
Salvation most definitely deserves to be renewed. Not sure to understand how people can prefer to watch and endlessly renew reality TV, when you have such a well written, interesting series out there. Salvation is seriously underrated!
