Shameless has just ended its tenth season on Showtime, and the series is coming back for one more season. The executive producer of the series, John Wells, spoke about ending the series with season 11. A premiere date has not yet been set for that season.
When asked about ending the Showtime series, Wells said the following to TV Line about Shameless:
“Well, I’ve always said I would do it forever. We didn’t actually have any discussions with the cast about doing more beyond Season 11, because Showtime, who have been tremendous, terrific partners, told us that they were ready to have us wrap it up. They’ve been such great partners. As sad as that made me… We tried to get the show on the air for seven years. So the fact that they stepped up and supported us for what will now be 11 seasons is a miracle, and it’s been a great, great partnership, working with them and with Warner Bros. I would have kept making it forever. I’m not sure if anybody else was crazy enough to keep doing that with me.”
Wells also spoke about the possibly of Emmy Rossum returning before the end of the series. She left the series at the end of season nine. Could fans see her back on the series for the finale? He said:
“I would love to have had her back the entire time, and she knows that, though. But she’s off doing other things. I’m very hopeful that her schedule, which is very busy because she’s wonderfully talented and doing many things, will align with our being, at least, able to get her back for a little bit. But if not, it won’t be because she doesn’t love us. It’ll just be because she’s got too much else that she’s committed to, which is exciting and great, and we’re all happy for her. I’ve told her all along that I hope that when we end [the show] that it’ll work out, that she can come back, and at least do a little bit for us.”
For season 10, the series has averaged 841,000 viewers an episode.

Hate to see it come to an end. We binge watched the first four seasons once we watched season 5. It has been our only show to wait for every season and are so sad to see it end after it just seems to come back on, ie the seasons were just way to short. Would love to see another affiliate pick it up if showtime is going to put it to bed.
Very sad to see the show go… This has been a routine for me since season 2 started had to binge watch first season lol Love allll the actors and actresses and hopefully we can see Fi a few more times before the ending of a show so worth watching in the mist of lame television!!
Yes keep it going, and if showtime wants to end it .see will HBO, or starz.will pick it.
Love shameless ……id keep watching it …..the cast is great …will greatly miss this show will be buying the complete set it’s a keeper

very sad to see the show end. I owuld lovew to see Emmy come back. Honestly the show isn’t as good with out her. I would also love to see Sheila again. She played a great character! I feel like the show wasn’t the same with out her. Can’t wait for season 11.
I’ve been a big fan since episode one. Sure hate to see it end. I wish someone like HBO would pick it up and keep it going.
Shameless is great..Even after Fiona left, it continues to be jam packed with story lines each episode. I hope the powers that be change their minds and Shameless continues after season 11.
I am going to be devastated when this show ends!! This is one of the best shows I have watched in a very long time! You could have went for the big 12!!! But all good things must come to an End!!
Shameless hasn’t been very good since Fiona left. I think it’s time for it to end. It’s starting to get stale. I love how Liam is so smart and can play everyone.
It’s such a great show! I could watch more of it and be perfectly happy but all good shows come to an end…cant wait to see what happens next!!
Very sad to see Shameless ending after season 11 we saw the family grow older together and it would have been great to see go for much longer then 11 seasons, hopefully it is taken up by another network and we can continue watching our disfunctional funny family
