If you’ve got a haunted house to sell, unfortunately, it looks like The Roman Agency has closed. The SurrealEstate TV series has been cancelled and won’t be returning for a second season, at least not on Syfy. The first season of 10 episodes finished airing in September.
A Canadian paranormal drama series, SurrealEstate stars Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, Adam Korson, Maurice Dean Wint, Savannah Basley, and Tennille Read. The story follows an elite team of specialists at The Roman Agency who handle the cases no one else can — haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away. Researching, investigating, and “fixing” the things that go bump in the night, the team works to create closure (and closings) even as they struggle with demons of their own. Nick Roman (Rozon) is the agency owner and has gained a whispered reputation as someone who could sell the haunted houses that nobody else could. Susan Ireland (Levy) is an enormously successful realtor who doesn’t believe in ghosts or hauntings. Father Phil Orley (Korson) is the agency’s research specialist while August Ripley (Wint) specializes in technology, and Zooey L’Enfant (Basley) serves as the agency’s office manager. Meanwhile, Megan Donovan (Read) is a medical student who just inherited a house from her grandfather.
In the United States, the first season of SurrealEstate averaged a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 315,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
Series creator and showrunner George R. Olson broke the news that SurrealEstate had been cancelled on Twitter and noted that producers are trying to find the show a new home.
He wrote, “Hey folks. Sorry to tell you that we will not be moving forward with Syfy on Season Two of #SurrealEstate. But we have no intention of leaving Luke alone in a bowling alley when his mom is out there somewhere and mortgage rates are so reasonable. … We’re committed to finding a new home for #SurrealEstate, and if there’s one thing The Roman Agency knows about, it’s finding new homes. You can help us by keeping #SurrealEstate in your hearts, minds, tweets and posts. … Stay tuned. And thanks so much for believing in ghosts, demons, Roadies, LRG’s, Mumfords, low-maintenance composite decking and our little show.”
*Update: Syfy subsequently reversed its decision and ordered a second season of SurrealEstate.
I’ve watched reruns at least 3 times now
Please bring it back. Love the show
This was a awesome show. I hope another network or streaming service picks it up.
Bring SurrealEstate back for seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. It is a damn good show!!! Stop canceling the good shows!
I agree. Stop cancelling the good shows.
Certainly crossing fingers for the creator, Olson, to find this series a new home!! Absolutely LOVE it!! Why does all the fun stuff get canned and stupid poop like LOVE ISLAND (yes, it’s a CBS series…just comparing stupid taste vs fun stuff) continue on. Looking forward to seeing it in the future!! Hope the cast keeps an open door to a chance they’ll get to continue!! ❤️❤️❤️
I liked this show. SYFY has been canceling shows like crazy. Shame on you SYFY.
to bad, this IS a good show, would have loved to see where it would go next, wish a streaming network would pick this up, maybe fans should start a campaign or something, on social media, also wish someone would bring back the dresdan files
Really enjoyed the show… too bad it had to be cancelled.. too many shows out there go on and on … And one show I enjoy gets cancelled … hopefully it will get a chance on a different network …
It’s too bad it is a brilliant series, all the really good shows get cancelled and the really bad ones get left to have season and seasons of mediocre series at best. This is one of the few very, very good ones.
I really liked this show. It was weird & interesting how a ghost was going to play with their lives. Especially that the mother was living with the sons girlfriend. And the mother is dead & pretty evil. Sad how she treated her son.
I had absolutely no problem investing an hour a week for season one and would not have a problem doing the same for at least a second season. Hope the show gets picked up!!!
This show started slow but it grew so quickly. The characters began to develop and it really got me invested in each of their pasts and why they all fit in.
I really hope another network picks them up. It was a well rounded show. Drama, romance, comedy and suspense.
Too bad if this show won’t a second home. The first 2 or 3 episodes the actors needed to find their footing. But after that is got better. At least, the series grew into my liking. While I had a similar start with ‘Supernatural’, in the end I loved that series. While I would not have expected as much seasons for ‘SurrealState’, a few more seasons would have been appreciated. Mainly because a decent enough series about the supernatural isn’t there. And I don’t mean just SyFy, all stations. Yes, I am aware that there are a few series currently… Read more »
It’s a wonderful show that shouldn’t be cancelled. Hopefully, another network will pick it up so that it can continue to entertain (and scare) us! Lots of potential plot lines and characterization in this series.
I’m very upset Surreal Estate will not b brought. I love the show
