When it comes to scripted TV shows, Syfy has had both hits and flops. Which of the current series will be cancelled or renewed for another season?
Syfy execs consider a lot of data when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series, but ratings are a major factor.
Scripted Syfy Network shows listed: 12 Monkeys, Aftermath, The Ark, Astrid & Lilly Save the World, Bitten, Blood Drive, Channel Zero, Childhood’s End, Chucky, Continuum, Dark Matter, Day of the Dead, Deadly Class, Defiance, Dominion, The Expanse, Ghost Wars, Happy!, Haven, Helix, Hunters, Incorporated, Killjoys, Krypton, Lost Girl, The Magicians, Nightflyers, Olympus, Reginald the Vampire, Resident Alien, Superstition, SurrealEstate, Vagrant Queen, Van Helsing, Wynonna Earp, and Z Nation.
Last updated: Most recent ratings added for The Ark.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released (usually a day or so after the broadcasts). The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
The demo numbers, which are typically most important to the broadcast networks, aren’t quite as vital to cable channels because their audiences are usually much smaller. Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
To the author of this site: Does this mean that Syfy is picking up Space Channel’s Season 3 of Bitten for next season?
Thanks.
They haven’t announced that yet but it seems very likely since Space has renewed it.
Thanks! Keeping fingers crossed. LOVE Bitten! I wish that Syfy would promote it more.
please – Haven I’ve loved it for several years I look forward to it every week when its on and it is the best Syfy show on the air
but moving it to 7pm on fri made no sense
RE: Bitten. I love the show! When I read here first that it was being cancelled, and NOW it is being renewed. I am very happy that Bitten was renewed! I wish it were advertised more. I caught it on Syfy the first time purely by accident and have been addicted to it ever since. Had it been advertised, I would have become a viewer much sooner!
Charmet para mi es la mejor película
Que la serie de charme es lo máximo es de lo mejor y súper natural es lo maximo
Haven has been a great series my whole family loves watching it and I look forward to watching it every week I cannot believe it hasn’t been renewed yet please renew it
I hope Syfy renews series Haven it is a great series I love it and I look forward to watching it every week and it hasn’t been renewed yet but I hope they do we know it it’s a outstanding series, they don’t even show reruns of the show haven if they did they would see how popular the show is and how these must renew the show for another season
I hope Syfy renews series Haven it is a great series I love it and I look forward to watching it every week and it hasn’t been renewed yet but I hope they do we know it it’s a outstanding series
Sorry if it’s too much…Syfy’s real problem isn’t that they have bad shows. They have poor management. Sure some shows are duds, but Syfy needs to get people in there that know how to promote shows and people that know about programming. Perfect example: when Stargate was on they would put wrestling on in its place. Then they’d show the “new” episode at 11:00 PM or later. You can’t throw off schedules on a whim like that. And replace it with wrestling? Then put the new episode on at midnight and wonder why you have less people watching. I’ve wondered,… Read more »
Syfy did pick up Dr Who back when it was first revived But what it did, much like it has done with shows such as Lost Girl, is air it several months after the airing in its original country, as well as make SIGNIFICANT cuts for time (since the UK and Canada have fewer ads, thus longer shows). I actually completely agree about Syfy’s mismanagement, and how it has handled Lost Girl is actually one reason why I’m boycotting the station. It claims that it just cuts for time, but if you look at what they actually cut out, especially… Read more »
You forgot CAPRICA. Just 1 or two more seasons to fulfill the entire Cylon story… Even tell the rebellion war from Lacy / Zoe avatar’s point of view. Geeze. CAPRICA was an even bigger loss than Firefly, because it left a hole I the giant epic BSG story:

One more season, for a lifetime of bluray & amazon sales…
Nice comments. Other than Defiance, I don’t watch anything else on Syfy. Killjoys and Dark Matter… crap. The stories are crap, the acting is crap, the “look” of the shows… crap. It continues to amaze me that Syfy… a channel dedicated to science fiction… and they can’t get much of anything right when it comes to the product they’re supposed to be giving the viewing public. The re-branding done in 2009 to Syfy… failure. Unless, of course, the intent was to market yourself as a punch line. By that definition, it was a success. Any management that hypes “Shxtnado”, and… Read more »
Good, cos I kind of skipped to the end ; ) Speaking of promoting shows, I’m signed up with Swagbucks where you can do activities and earn swagbucks that can be redeemed for gift certificates. I do all the free stuff to earn sb and recently, in early June, an offer to watch a video for 2sb was in my inbox. Instead of the ordinary it had the first episode of Mr Robot. It played badly, there was a lot of pixilation and blacking out and I missed portions but what I saw was interesting. I had the same offer… Read more »
I added the show to my watchlist at next-episodedotnet (not .com)
I enjoy the syfy channel and watch quite few a shows
on it. Syfy is always one of my top 3 channels
I go to for entertainment. I like Helix and 12 Monkeys, Z Nation
they’re different, and the story appeals to my taste. I
am not in the demographics. How do they guage those who are
older within their ratings?
I have just discovered LostGirl on Netflix and I am OBSESSED With it! I have watched almost all the available SciFi shows on Netflix and Lostgirl is by far my favorite BC of the characters and the, plots. Please don’t cancel this show!!!! Or Netflix please pick,it up and continue it;! How else am I gonna get my Bo and Kenzi and Dyson fix?????
So you know, Kenzi is now in TURN, but might be hard to spot.
All ratings come from Nielsen, the company that can have your grandparents dead infront of the tv and they are still “watching” show X and Y…
Z Nation has a huge gruop of fans but they watch through netflix and download. Same with Helix…
I hope SyFy keeps taking chances on odd things, rather than the same old same old that we see on all other channels.
I’m surprised at the declining ratings for Lost Girl and Haven. Networks forget many viewers see these shows on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon or similar program which doesn’t air the show live, but rather a day, week or months later. In my opinion th decision on whether to renew or cut a program should be based primarly on other data than live ratings.
that’s what I said.. I watched the trailer and I am surprised this show is still going while the better shows keep getting axed
They have to establish brands to pull SyFy out of the crapper. Maybe they can buy an established brand and make it a series, like they did with Battlestar Galatica.
In my opinion, in order to rescue SyFy, they need to begin some huge changes. They need to create “Themes week”: 2 days out of the week they should have it scheduled for “Horror-Thriller” days. – You get your Vampires/Werewolves/Witches/Warlocks/Serial Killers/Zombies/ans an assortment of strange and bizarre series/movies. Then 2 days out of the week it’s assorted short stories days, where the new Indie types are given a chance to promote their new ideas and if any short stories films are a hit they get a SyFy chance to make it into a series. Then 1 day out of that… Read more »
How about they just get rid of the soap opera and reality crap. Then they begin to make good shows like firefly, star trek, farscape:)
Well I really love Face Off, so I would hate to lose that. Plus its ratings aren’t that bad. Heck I also loved Jim Hensen’s Creature Shop. But then I like seeing how things are made.
