We hope you weren’t too taken with the story of young Bryan Mills. As reported, NBC has removed season two of its Taken TV show from the schedule. Now, the Peacock network has announced the second season will resume Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 8:00pm ET/PT. Note two things about that return date: the network is moving the show from the ICU that is Friday nights, to the hospice that is Saturdays, and the second season of Taken will not resume until after the conclusion of Nielsen’s May Sweeps ratings period.
An NBC crime thriller, Taken is a prequel to the Luc Besson film franchise starring Liam Neeson. The Taken TV series adaptation stars Clive Standen as a young, but already lethal Bryan Mills. The cast, which was retooled after a flagging freshman season, also includes Jennifer Beals, Adam Goldberg, and Jessica Camacho. The story centers on Mills, as he and his team undertake rescue missions around the globe.
According to NBC’s programming schedule, beginning Friday, May 20th Dateline NBC, which typically runs for one hour at 10:00pm ET/PT, will air from 9:00 to 11:00pm ET/PT. Meanwhile, the Taken show page, on NBC.com, confirms the May 26th return date.
In addition, Deadline reports: “Taken already was considered a likely cancellation, and the scheduling move makes that certain.” While the network has yet to confirm that it has cancelled Taken, don’t bet your grocery money on season three renewal.
Taken: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Taken is averaging a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.764 million viewers. Compared to season one, it is down by about 56% and 46%, respectively. By both measures, it is the lowest rated of NBC’s scripted TV shows. It’s really due to international sales that Taken was renewed for season two.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Taken TV series? Are you sad that it it is cancelled? If it were up to you, would NBC cancel or renew this TV show for a third season?
I love watching Taken. I would hate for it to be cancelled. Hope there is a season 3 to look forward to.
I really like this show they never really gave it a chance.
tv station should stop reviving old shows like will and grace ..rosanne ..murphy brown ..and more these shows have done their time ..its over .boring ….we dont want to go back in the past these shows are over they had their chance and give a chance for the new ones to make their mark ..keep the taken .and stop being stupid NBC
taken was at 9pm on friday against hawaii 5-0 and marvel shield ..2 other good shows that didnt help the ratings ..the story is good ..i luv taken ..lots of action …please renew it ..for many seasons ..dont cancel it ..why dont u cancel other boring shows like americas got talents ..american ninja warrior ..and all those singing show and so on …they are boring ….KEEP THE TAKEN .canxelling it would be a big mistake
Bad decision NBC. Maybe the right decision would have been to not move the day and time 5 times in the last 2 months. Taken is the only regular netwok show I watch. Thank God for cable and satelite TV. Maybe Netflix or Cinemax will be smart and put Taken on their networks. I hope so because it is a very well acted and good stories.
My wife and I enjoyed this series and would very much love to see a third season. I understood that DVR’ing such a series counted as viewing, is that not the case?
I love Taken! Watch the show every week and would be very upset if it’s cancelled! Please NBC keep going with the series. Watching Brian Mills fighting for his country is so awesome! If the series is gonna end, let it be where he meets Lenora and has Kim.
My husband and I love the show. Why is it the good shows get cancelled and all these stupid shows that have been on for 30 years are still on.
My husband and I really enjoy this show and it has gotten better each week. It will be very disappointing if Taken is cancelled. NBC put it on the wrong night. If they changed the day, the ratings would improve. There are so many garbage shows on that we wouldn’t waste our time watching yet they get renewed. Frustrating!
I think Taken is a good show. I usually have to record it and watch it later which I think others do the same. Is that taken in to account to determine the ratings. It seems to me that they just don’t leave a show on long enough to see that it is a good show and should be renewed.
They always remove good show and keep lame shows. Unbelievable more people don’t watch awesome show.
i tried to watch but the acting was for the most part horrid.
I rather enjoy this series, but not surprised by programming decisions made by NBC. Everything is based on millennials now, which I’m surprised that the millennial population didn’t support this program?
Show is good! Can’t go by those ratings. Most people that age group aren’t around wknds and watch shows other times on demand. Should try this show at another day and time. Bet will have much better ratings!!
It was a decent show, but Jennifer Beals is the kiss of death. Had they replaced her rather than the rest of the cast after season 1, it would have had a chance to succeed.
