The original L Word series ran for six seasons on Showtime but the world has changed quite a bit in the decade that’s followed. How long will this new iteration last? Will The L Word: Generation Q be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
The L Word: Generation Q is a sequel to The L Word series which ran on the same channel, from 2004-2009. It stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Arienne Mandi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, Rosanny Zayas, Sepideh Moafi, and Jordan Hull. Season two guests include Rosie O’Donnell, Donald Faison, Griffin Dunne, and Vanessa Williams. The current iteration continues to follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Moennig), Alice Pieszecki (Hailey), Dani Nùñez (Mandi), Micah Lee (Sheng), Sarah Finley (Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Zayas), Gigi Ghorbani (Moafi), and Angelica Porter-Kennard (Hull) as they experience love, heartbreak, setbacks, and success in Los Angeles.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: Season one of The L Word: Generation Q on Showtime averaged a 0.05 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 224,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings.
Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). Early fast affiliate ratings (estimates) are indicated with an “*”. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Though other economic factors are involved, the higher-rated shows usually get renewed and the lower-rated ones get cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the The L Word: Generation Q TV series on Showtime? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
*2/5/22 update: The L Word: Generation Q has been renewed for a third season on Showtime.
There will be NO season 3 The writing and story lines are pathetic. Also there are three characters they added that are absolutely useless. Chaiken is letting the show go down the toilet.
This show is so bad, it’s painful to watch. . It is incredibly disappointing. They definitely picked the wrong show runner. She destroyed it.
You are absolutely correct.
Does Showtime management have a means to get the counts from their on line streaming? What about the 18-49 demographics? So why put it on-demand streaming except to get more viewers?
Please let Ilene C. Step in and safe the future of this serie!!! We so need this ww representation of diversity and LGBTQAI on tv! Dont boycot but give it all tge support you can!!!
What makes you think there’s a “boycot” of the show? I stopped watching it because it’s not worth following as The L Word original was. This version of the series has gone off the cliff. The storyline and some of the characters of :GQ have alienated the majority of people who never missed an episode of TLW. (And I say “majority” because no one in my circle of friends likes what they’ve done to TLW and dropped out of :GW after watching season 1 — and if producers think my experience is dismissable, the viewership nosedive dots the i and… Read more »
I personally think the folks that wanted to bring it back, only did so because they needed the money. That is why Kate & Leisha are begging people to pay for their virtual podcast event. Next they will be selling $100 shirts & pants to make a buck. Their fans need to wake up!
WHAT was Ilene Chaiken thinking when she stood to the side and let the legacy of The L Word devolve into this travesty? Please do the LGBTQ a favor and stick a fork in this series, because it is done.
Writing is the big problem. There is no depth to the stories. The characters are immature and lacking in depth. It’s a bad version of the old show, even repeating the same stories. The dialogues are weak. The focus on sex rather than good storytelling hurts the show because we can’t get emotional and involved with the stories. There is a profound continuity problem. There is a profound problem of cohesion and coherence in the scripts. All very confusing. I can’t emotionally bond with the narratives because they objectively don’t exist.
The writing & acting are not great. Gentleman Jack is a heck of a lot better. How is anorexic Kate M considered attractive?!
Great show for horney women and perv men. Love the show
I LOVED the L word, However, I’m not a fan of gen Q. I’ve only watched gen Q to see Katherine moennig, because she’s a babe
Used to be a babe.
I love the L Word Gen Q and I love Tibette. This show should NOT be cancelled. It needs more seasons
Give the show a chance. Also many people, myself included, like to binge watch a season. I will ship premier and wait until I can watch all episodes at the same time.
How many chances is a show expected to be given? Season 1 had 8 episodes. Season 2 has now aired 6 episodes, so far. That’s a total of 14 episodes. When a Showtime series loses 80% of its viewers, it tells you loud and clear that 80% of Showtime subscribers have turned their backs on the series: men, women, straight, non-straight, young, and older. The execs at Showtime need to bail out of this sinking ship.
I love watching the series and would hate it if they cancel it
GEN Q should be given a chance to prove itself thru a few more shows. Please don’t cancel as we don’t have a lot of shows that support the LGBTQIA COMMUNITY. Please give it a chance.
no, thank you.
Funny how nobody’s seen the premiere, yet it’s getting a high ratings on IMDb…
That tells you that IMDb cannot be taken seriously.
where is Laurel L Holloman’s name
To the best of my knowledge, she’s billed as a guest.
She is not even in the guests list
she cant be a regular as she has her artshows all over the world so shes only doing about 5 episodes i think
