What’s This TV Show About?
A Netflix sci-fi drama, Altered Carbon stars Joel Kinnaman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Hayley Law, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh, and Trieu Tran. Recurring in season one are Will Yun Lee, Marlene Forte, Byron Mann, Tamara Taylor, Adam Busch, Olga Fonda, and Hiro Kanagawa.
This adaptation of Richard K. Morgan cyberpunk novel comes from creator Laeta Kalogridis. The story unfolds in the 24th Century, when death is far from inevitable. When 22nd Century rebel Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) returns to life centuries later, he tries to track down a killer, by interviewing the victims. Because human beings can now download their consciousnesses to disk and spin them up into another body (i.e. “sleeve”), death is no longer final. Enter the wealthy Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), who has lived this way for hundreds of years — at least until someone murdered him and destroyed his cortical stack.
Altered Carbon has been renewed for a second season which will debut February 27, 2020. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless they decide to publicize its viewership, it is hard to predict whether Netflix will cancel or renew Altered Carbon for season two. I don’t have a strong feeling on this one, either way, so I’ll keep an eye on the trades and update this page with breaking developments. Never read the book, but watch season 1 and I enjoyed it, I am looking forward to the next season
Didn’t know about the books but just watched Season 1 over the past week and I am very impressed.The concepts and the settings are super interesting. The acting is dead on perfect. The direction is excellent… I really enjoy the use (not overuse) of flashbacks to flesh out the back story. This is a fantastic and compelling combination of a detective drama meets social justice quest meets Bladerunner dystopian future. I loved it and hope that they will green light more seasons to come.
I just watched the entire season and it was true to the book, had fantastic acting, cinematography and music. Please please please make the next two books.

so it would be great if they also made Broken Angels & Woken Furies!
TV series usually arn’t true to the book but this was, i was excited to watch it and I binged watched them over 48hrs the day they where released on netflix
What are you guys talking about? This wasn’t true to the books. Rei was NOT his sister, Quellcrist falconer doesn’t show up until book 3, the Envoys were not terrorists, Poe wasn’t a thing, the resistance wasn’t a thing. This was decently far from the books, still an AMAZING show though and needs a season 2
