Last year the Animal Kingdom TV show rose in the Nielsen ratings, so it was in little danger of being cancelled by TNT. Now that it’s back for its fourth season — with something of a twist we’re not allowed to reveal — will the series gain even more viewers? Will Animal Kingdom be cancelled or renewed for season five? A TNT crime drama, Animal Kingdom stars Ellen Barkin as Smurf, head of the Cody crime family, with Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, and Sohvi Rodrigues. Emily Deschanel joins on a recurring basis as Angela, a recovering addict and former best friend of J’s (Cole) late mother. Season four kicks off with Smurf showing everyone she is in charge. This season also introduces a new group of criminals, who have a surprising connection to the Codys. Guest stars include Gil Birmingham, Leila George, Grant Harvey, Jon Beavers, Lucca De Oliveira, and Rigo Sanchez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The third season of Animal Kingdom on TNT averaged a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and 1.306 million total viewers.

1/15/2021 update: TNT has renewed the Animal Kingdom TV show for a sixth season.
I hope it gets renewed for Season 5…. character development and briiliant acting leaves me wanting more! TNT…give us another season of The Cody Family saga please!!

I love this show! I actually like the dual story line that shows Smurfs history. Speaking of Smurf, I love Ellen Barkin and I understand the character has a lot going on this season but I can use a little less lower jaw jutting and strutting around and more of the earlier Smurf.
I don’t like the dual storyline is season 4. Up until it this season, it’s been one of my favorite shows. I hope it comes back, but without all the flashbacks.
So many plots and turns going on at the same time and all keep me teased so much that I get irritable if somebody wants my attention on a Tuesday. It may not be better than great sex, but you can always push a date around to a different time. The bad guys have such good in them and the good guys aren’t any heroes. This is one of the absolute best series I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen all the best it’s so good and alot of people look at the name thinking it’s about somethg totally different, I love love love it..plz keep it coming
Please don’t cancel this show it is one of the best shows great writing good action I understand MTV has these reality shows but they are garbage this show is amazing and I believe it needs more advertisement and you will get so many more people thank you
I agree with everyone else please do not cancel this show I honestly believe this is one of the best shows to be on the air compared to any of these little kitty dramas that people like to watch or the reality TV on MTV this is a great show you will regret canceling
Do not cancel animal kingdom please! This is one of the best shows ever on television. Let Smurf live let her get treatment the show must go on. A devoted viewer.
