What’s This TV Show About?
An Amazon Prime Video historical drama, Britannia stars Kelly Reilly, David Morrissey, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Liana Cornell, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, Mackenzie Crook, Barry Ward, Stanley Weber, Joe Armstrong, Fortunato Cerlino, Callie Cooke, Aaron Pierre, Eleanor Worthington-Cox, Zoë Wanamaker, Ian McDiarmid, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Hugo Speer, Daniel Caltagirone, Zaqi Ismail, and Annabel Scholey. A century prior, even Julius Caesar failed to conquer Britannia. Now, in 43AD, Emperor Claudius has dispatched General Aulus (Morrissey) with 400 ships bringing 20,000 men to its shores. There, the Romans must deal with warring Cantii and Regni tribes, warrior queens, and the enigmatic Druids.
Britannia has been renewed for a second season on Epix which will debut October 4, 2020. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless they decide to publicize its viewership, it is hard to predict whether Amazon will cancel or renew Britannia for season two. Since it is a Sky Atlantic TV series, its success in UK is crucial to whether or not there will be a second season for Amazon to pick up. 3/16/2018 update: Sky Atlantic has renewed Britannia for a second season. Amazon hasn’t announced a cancellation or renewal, but this points to a second season in the US. I’ll update when we hear more from Amazon. Details here.

10 thumbs up for originality!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW! it’s hard to find an out of the ordinary show these days . It’s remake ,retweek, update grown up revisited child hood sitcoms. Oh thank goodness I found Britania . Bless the writers ,and let’s have more seasons. I can’t wait.

Awesome Watch, people wanting another GOT will be dissapointed. Great cast and huge scope for future plot twists. watch out for Boudicca surely will get a mention and some local english place names hopefully. Historically fun more than accurate. 4 stars ****
Fantastic series, great characters & acting, gripping plot, it would be a real pity if this show did not run for some more seasons. I wait with anticipation. Good choice in theme tune, totally left of field but it works and I cannot now get the song out of my head, a real ‘ear worm.’
I liked it a lot and semi binge watched it. I certainly hope it is back for at least another season to wrap things up if not longer. There are a lot worse on the air.
Absolutely phenomenal show. Presents information, viewpoints, and religious material from both the perspective of the “watcher”, AND the perspective of the “believer.” The mysticism and clash of the belief systems of ancient Britain can be very difficult to catalogue and analyze. This show no only does this, but does it in an impartial way. It does it without losing the importance of the emotions and people that lived through it. It also, I believe, accurately captures the shock, fear, and most importantly, the confusion that would exist during a clash as monumental as that of the Druids and the Romans.… Read more »
The show is OK, but so full of basic historical inaccuracies. The researchers need a good kick up the backside for being lazy. Bears and Wolves? Druids so far from historical resemblance. Using words like miles, clear as crystal, billions that were not around then. Complex conversations when eve the Romans spoke very basic and limited language. Could have been a spectacular series with the right research.
That’s what makes it enjoyable. The old king telling the Romans to ” F- off back to Rome ” had me in stitches.

I love love LOVE it!! It’s hard to shows that make you feel like you’re there…….back in time. PLEASE KEEP THIS ONE ON PRIME!!!
