Jason Bull and his team won’t be back at work for the 2022-23 television season. The CBS drama series is ending so there won’t be a seventh year for Bull. Star Michael Weatherly broke the news via Twitter.
A legal drama series, the Bull TV show stars Weatherly, Yara Martinez, Geneva Carr, Jamie Lee Kirchner, Christopher Jackson, and MacKenzie Meehan. Matt Dellapina and Ollie Robinson recur. The show follows Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly) who is brilliant, brash, and charming. Together with his team of experts at Trial Analysis Corporation, Bull combines psychology, human intuition, and high-tech data to learn what makes those in a courtroom tick. The team includes neurolinguistics expert Marissa Morgan (Carr), former NYPD detective Danny James (Kirchner), hacker Taylor Rentzel (Meehan), and image expert Chunk Palmer (Jackson). In high-stakes trials, Bull’s remarkable insights and top-notch staff create winning strategies that tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favor. In his personal life, Bull has remarried Isabella “Izzy” Colón (Martinez) and they have a young daughter.
The sixth season of Bull averages a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season five, that’s down by 28% in the demo and down by 16% in viewership. It’s one of the network’s lowest-rated scripted series in the traditional ratings but sees a sizable uptick in delayed viewing. In the live+seven day ratings, Bull’s been averaging a 0.60 in the demo with 7.40 million, an increase of 80% and 75%, respectively.
In a statement on Twitter, Weatherly wrote, “Hello all! It’s been my privilege to play Dr Jason Bull but after 6 Seasons of incredible storylines, I’ve decided it’s time to pursue new creative challenges and bring his story to a close. It has been an honor to work with this talented cast, crew, and writing/producing team who helped reinvent the legal drama. Stay tuned for a big series finish…Thanks to all the fans from the bottom of my heart. You will always be a part of our Bull family!”
There are a dozen installments left to air in the 22 episode season and the series finale is expected to air in May.
What do you think? Have you kept up with the Bull TV show on CBS? Are you sorry to hear that it won’t be returning for a seventh season?
I will be sorry to see Bull end. Great show!
This was a good show. Sad to see benny’s leave.
But CBS in all its wisdom cancel show that have a modicum of intelligence. And fire people before they are guilty ie Chris noth, I cancelled equalizer because of that
I don’t know how this show even made it to season 6. For the last 3 seasons it was one of the lowest rated dramas, if not the lowest rated, on the network yet somehow this was renewed and NCIS: New Orleans was cancelled. It’s been garbage since the beginning of season 3.
It went downhill after Benny left. Michael wants to purse new areas….good luck with that. Probably never hear from him again. It was a good show though.
i have enjoyed bull it was something different to the norm and the cast is great i think bull has had a great run and 6 series for a court room drama is very acceptable unlike svu who is pulling a lot more viewers coz of mariska and now stabs it will be interesting wat is put in bull’s place though
I am very sorry to see this exciting wonderful show end! I love it and always watch it, even if something else is on at the the same time. If that happens, I record Bull and watch it when I can. I think when the day changed from Mondays to Thursdays, that may have been the issue of lower ratings even though you can record it. I wish this show would not be cancelled. I’ll miss you Bull family very much. You all were excellent. I miss “Benny”. Good luck to all of you in your future endeavors….
I have very much enjoyed this show and hate to see it cancelling. It is one of my favorite shows!! I wish they would bring Benny back and continue the show. Very sad.
I am truly upset. Bull is my favorite TV show!!!!! It unique, witty, interesting story lines, great premise, and fun. I am shocked that the show is being cancelled.
It’s been hit and miss since it started. The outcome is always boringly the same. I was all for Michael in NCIS but not this.
NCIS should end too.
It’s so dull without Gibbs.
Are CBS losing their knack of interesting shows?
The quality of the acting is abysmal across the network.
Since the cancelation of NCIS: New Orleans about the only show I still watch is United States of Al. Otherwise their dramas are boring. The comedies also are pretty awful. I used to like The Neighborhood, but it’s become stale too.
It is heartbreaking! Crushed.
Such an entertaining show. Smart funny and excellent writing. Cast has become like family. How sad. Another good show gone. Guess I’ll try to get by on reruns.
Really bites…☹️
I doubt this would be the last season if not for the elephant in the room that caused one Actor to get the kick out the door and GGC the boot as well.
Been fun. Been extremely entertaining.
Will definitely be missed. EVERYone will!!
Looking forward to what’s next for Weatherly and the cast that glued it together. to all behind the scenes.
yr1,. yr2,. yr3,. yr4,. yr5,.
yr6,.
Ditto, Laurence. I’ve enjoyed Bull and his minions for the past 5+years and he will be sorely missed. It seems that everytime I find a show that I like, it ends up being cancelled before I’m ready for it to leave. As the song says, “what will be, will be.”
So true,!
Noooo! I LOVE watching how they solve cases and work together even though sometimes it can be hard.
Very sad to see the series coming to an end .Definitely my favourite show.
Honestly it is time to end it. They’ve lost several key cast members and I wonder if it’s because Weatherly is difficult to work with. Whatever the reason, at least they will have some sort of ending apparently and not a cliffhanger.
