Last season, CBS tried to establish new shows but almost all of them were cancelled due to low ratings. No new dramas survived and only two sitcoms did. Which shows will be cancelled or renewed this time? We’ll have wait and see.
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Battle Creek, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, The Briefcase, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Cyber, Elementary, Extant, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, The McCarthys, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, The Millers, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, The Odd Couple, Person of Interest, Scorpion, Stalker, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, Under the Dome, Undercover Boss, and Zoo.
There’s lots of data that CBS looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing so far.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
I love Stalker and hope and pray cbs will consider giving it more time. Everyone at work also watches it. We love it. Please.. please.. I also loved reckless along with all the women in my department.
Love, love, love Stalker! Told some friends about it, they never saw it. We all watched the final episode sitting on the edge of our seats. Their reaction to the show was simply “WOW”! Mine was simply “Told ya so”! Please bring it back!
Stalker is my favorite new show! How can you not renew it? Everyone I know watches so the ratings to me is mind boggling. CBS, you need to listen to the viewers & renew the show!
GIBBS is becoming dad in a sitcom……Hey Gary Glasberg bring back GIBB’s personality that worked…..change in Gibbs isn’t appreciated by viewers…..
I think Stalker is one of the best shows on TV right now, it keeps you coming back for more. Please keep this show for another year.
I love STALKER… It is incredibly interesting and the cliff hanger on the 18th left my family, friends and ME waiting for the resolution. I searched CBS site and then the Internet to find answers re the next episode. Unfortunately, this articule is depressing thinking that STALKER may be cancelled. NO ONE ASKED US WHAT WE WANTED!
Please keep Stalker – LOVE IT!
Love Stalker and Blue Bloods. Great shows. Great story lines. Sure hope they both get renewed!!
Jackie, I loved Blue Bloods too and also Stalker I also loved RECKLESS and CBS cancelled it …It was one of the great shows of the summer and people didn’t get to see it or realize that it was on …Way too bad because it was right up there with Blue Bloods ..Great writers and really great actors …One terrific show CBS does not realize what they have lost ..You can see it on NETFLEX the whole first series …It is a shame to let this go we need to keep letting CBS know who we feel …Hopefully they care… Read more »
Agree!
What a way to leave Stalker. Episode 17? Is this show coming back in the summer, next fall or never? Rough ending to leave folks hanging.
I liked Stalker I hope they don’t take that off too …I loved RECKLESS and they took that off we keep asking for that to come back and if CBS is not listening I hope another net work who is so inclined to take over this great show ..It is on NetFlex if you want o see the series …Great writers really great Actors couldn’t ask for a more complete show had every thing ..couldn’t wait for the next week to see what was on with the story line !!!!!
I love blue bloods.I really hope they dont csncel that. Also like the Good Wife.
It dosent make sensé they would cxl thèse shows. They are still young, and doing very well
in reruns. When I see violent shows I dont care for like Criminal Minds, getting repeated over and over,I dont understand why they wouldnt keep the GOOD shows.
Stalker is one of the best new shows, please, please please renew it!!
I want stalker to be renewed best TV show thats come out in quite awhile
in my opinion LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!
I hope Stalker is renewed, it’s the best new show out there right now. Only hope that it can be bumped to an earlier time. 10-11pm mid week us too late for us working early birds!
Sure hope Stalker and Blue Bloods are renewed. They’re two of our favorites. It’s almo to the point if you want to watch TV you have to look somewhere other than on the networks. They don’t have much any more that’s worth spending your time with.
Same here. The only shows I faithfully watch: Blue Bloods and Stalker. I have never in my life been so loyal to television shows that I haven’t missed a single episode. Lol. Stalker is by far the best show that I have seen in awhile. Love the suspense, actors/characters and plot line. Keeps you on the edge of your seat and coming back every week to see what happens next. This show has a ton of potential. I will be so disappointed if it doesn’t get renewed for a second season. :/ On another note: I’m really surprised Scorpion has… Read more »
