To not much surprise, NBC has decided to renew Chuck for a fourth season. Despite sagging ratings, it’s still one of the network’s best performing hour-long shows in the targeted demo.
Chuck follows a geeky electronics store employee (Zachary Levi) whose life is turned upside down when a database of top secret government information is downloaded into his brain. The series cast includes Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, and Julia Ling.
This year, the ratings started out with a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.45 million viewers. That’s good, especially for NBC. Unfortunately, they’ve fallen quite a bit over the season. This week’s episode of Chuck hit a new low with 5.324 million viewers and an unfortunately consistent 1.9 rating in the demo.
On most other networks, Chuck would be toast. However, NBC has a lot of airtime to fill next season and needs some familiar programs to anchor the schedule. It’s likely for this reason that NBC has renewed Chuck for a fourth season of 13 episodes.
It’s unknown if it will return in the fall or if it will once again be held until midseason. We also don’t know if the peacock network is open to ordering additional episodes. One thing is safe to say though, for Chuck to be assured of a fifth season, viewership has to rise.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Chuck is coming back for season four? Any suggestions on how NBC can get more viewers?

Chuck is an absolutely awesome show! The nerd demographic can find their shows anywhere so NBC really needs to realize they need to pay attention to not only the initial 24 hour viewership that Nielson(sp?) records, but also the online activity regarding Chuck. This show has an incredible, avid, and huge fanbase that just wants MORE!
Yes it is great that Chuck is coming back.. This is a 2010 Maxwell Smart type series only with up to date dialog and hip happenings…
Chuck MUST get more seasons, the show is epic über nice pwnage!
i don’t live in england, amerika or whatever, i’m from Belgium.
the first season aired here, i watched it, then i started looking for season 2,3 wich i watched in 5 days.
to get more viewers i think you should think more wider, air it in more countries, i’m sure many people will like this show.
i HOPE season 5 will become reality!
CHUCK FTW!

Great show – one of my favorites.. Hope NBC continues to keep the show. Thanks
NBC.
I am so glad to hear that Chuck has been renewed for another season. Chuck 2.0 is just starting to scratch the surface and if more of the suggestions given at comicon are given serious consideration the show has much more to grow. The show producers and cast love to hear the input from the fans and I have seen some of the ideas actually used this season. The entire cast is great and you can actually feel how much fun they have doing the show. I just hope that NBC can see that as the fans do for many… Read more »
I love this show so much that I’m thrilled with a season 4 and am forever hoping for at least one more season of this television greatness. I watch lots of TV, no doubt far too much. Yet of all the shows I watch, the one that is by far the best is Chuck. Before Chuck, I never purchased a season of a show on DVD, and I certainly never asked for some show paraphernalia for any reason (Nerd Herd T anybody?) yet I had no choice but to change all of that for this one creative show that I… Read more »
yeah!!! great news to keep CHUCK for a fourth season, its a great show and the only one i wait for each week, keep it comming year after year
The extra characters in the show are so good you should have a couple of shows named “Where’s Chuck ” and leave chuck and sarah out, and base the show on some antics that happen in the store with the catch phrase of Where’s Chuck
I’m glad the show will continue. It has been one of my favorites. Reruns with publicity to let new viewer catch on would help. That’s why I love cable it’s always easy to start watching a show you didn’t see in the beginning. They run marathons and repeats. so a person can start and catch up after the first showing.
Running against House does make it hard. More attention should be paid to DVRing a show.
Thanks NBC for sticking with a show, rather than letting them go like ABC does.
Chuck just keeps getting better and better.
glad to hear keep them coming
good. i hope there’s season 5….this show is funny and entertaining.
YES! Just what my family has been waiting for. I agree wisome of the above posts. They need a real bad guy who can go toe to toe with chuck. Now that they have next season they need to just get real creative with the writing. They got way off track with shaw. Horred character!
Chuck me.. VICTORY!
Great news.
