After weeks and weeks, The CW finally had a full schedule of new programming. Some were way up while others took significant hits. Smallville and 90210 saw significant gains in the young female demo while Hellcats and America’s Next Top Model had big declines.
Which CW TV shows will be cancelled or renewed depends mostly on the series’ ratings. The network puts a lot of importance on the female 18-34 demographic where most others focus on the 18-49 demo. Before we get to the season-to-date averages, here are the winners and losers from April 15th through April 21st — based on the 18-34 female demo, as measured against the last original episode.
Week-to-Week Gains: Smallville 0.8/3 (+33.3%), 90210 1.5/5 (+50.0%), and Gossip Girl 1.6/4 (+14.3%).
No Change: One Tree Hill 1.3/5 and Nikita 0.8/2.
Week-to-Week Losses: Supernatural 0.9/3 (-10.0%), Hellcats 0.8/2 (-20.0%), America’s Next Top Model 1.1/3 (-31.3%), and The Vampire Diaries 1.5/5 (-6.3%).

Below is a list of the regular CW TV shows and their 2010-11 season average ratings to date. It only incorporates the ratings for original episodes and not repeats. The data is sorted by the 18-34 female demographic averages. The closer a show is to the bottom, the more likely it is to be cancelled. Friday is one of the least-watched nights of TV so those shows are expected to get lower numbers.

Hellcats is a goner and One Tree Hill shouldn’t have even gotten a S8 to begin with. This trainwreck needs to be done after S8. No S9. Stop dragging out this mess already.
