Dancing with the Stars went made some big changes ahead of its new season, and many fans were unhappy to see Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews fired as hosts of the ABC series. Tyra Banks is now hosting the dance competition series, and some are not happy with that choice either.
DWTS executive producer Andrew Llinares recently spoke about the reasons for the changes at an ABC press event. He said the following about the firing of Bergeron and Andrews, per The Sun:
“It’s all about evolution. Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve. So I think changing that host is all about evolution. It was all about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new and make it reach out to a new audience — as well as the audience that’s been there for years.”
Llinares says that he is pleased with how things have worked out and thinks that bringing in Banks to host the series has “changed the rhythm of the show in a really exciting way. I think Tyra is doing an amazing, amazing job. It’s been wonderful having her energy in the ballroom and her expertise as a host in the ballroom. She’s brought a new life to everything.”
The changes did appear to cause a drop in viewership in its second week on the air this season, but it bounced back some in week three. Dancing with the Stars currently airs on Monday nights on ABC.

Tyra Banks adds nothing. She was terrible on AGT and is no match for Tom Bergeron. I no longer want to watch Dancing with the Stars. Time to shut it down
it’s all about Evolution….that’s the reason for letting Tom and Erin go. So will American Idol have an Evolution and get rid of Ryan Seacrest…..if that happens I am truly done with ABC JMHO
They need a new executive producer and get rid of banks

Time for the show to dance into the sunset. Tom and Erin added the comic relief needed. Tyra is pretty and that’s it. She can’t carry the show just being pretty.

I think if they wanted to evolve the show they would have changed hosts years ago. I think the change doesn’t make the show the same. I’m having a hard time watching it. I hate to say this but Tyra speaks with no ethusiam as Tom and Erin did. It’s not “exciting” but instead a bore.
Like many others I am not enjoying the host. I have liked the show for many years and really enjoyed the previous hosts too bad things changed.
Tyra Banks is too over the top for this show…,We we’re loyal fans but will not watch again… Tom and Erin were perfectly matched for the show…

I miss Tom and can’ t stand Tyra. She’s trying too hard and doesn’t seem natural. I’ll stop watching.
Impossible to watch Banks, dressed like a clown. I record the show. Watch some of the dancers. Fast forward during Banks’ comments. Just go to scores.
Tom Bergeron was so quick witted. They made a horrible decision to let go of this gifted host.
Big mistake ABC. Bring Tom & Erin back, even if you have to increase their pay. More effort to get the real stars is needed too. I also may be leaving soon if things don’t improve.
Very disappointed with the change. Certainly there must be a celebrity more appealing than Tyra Banks. Do not like her. Never did. But I like the dancing so I’ll watch the show.
Do not care for new redo. My husband and I have watched the show since it started and have been to a DWTS road show but the new hostess is obnoxious to us. Not personable. We watched the first two but we no longer enjoy it. Bad move. We have friends who refuse to watch it anymore. So sorry a you felt it needed a change.
