Dancing with the Stars went made some big changes ahead of its new season, and many fans were unhappy to see Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews fired as hosts of the ABC series. Tyra Banks is now hosting the dance competition series, and some are not happy with that choice either.
DWTS executive producer Andrew Llinares recently spoke about the reasons for the changes at an ABC press event. He said the following about the firing of Bergeron and Andrews, per The Sun:
“It’s all about evolution. Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve. So I think changing that host is all about evolution. It was all about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new and make it reach out to a new audience — as well as the audience that’s been there for years.”
Llinares says that he is pleased with how things have worked out and thinks that bringing in Banks to host the series has “changed the rhythm of the show in a really exciting way. I think Tyra is doing an amazing, amazing job. It’s been wonderful having her energy in the ballroom and her expertise as a host in the ballroom. She’s brought a new life to everything.”
The changes did appear to cause a drop in viewership in its second week on the air this season, but it bounced back some in week three. Dancing with the Stars currently airs on Monday nights on ABC.

I am not impressed that Tyra has made the show fresh and new or evolved.
The ratings have slightly improved because we the fans enjoy the professional dancers and the celebrities they train.
My husband and I miss Tom and Erin. We are not enjoying Tyra as host at all. We’ll probably finish out this season but most likely won’t be watching further seasons with Tyra as host. She is most annoying and grating.
Horrible decision to fire the best, most entertaining, professional hosts on TV, Tom (especially) and Erin. Tyra not suited for something that SHOULD NOT focus on her. I will not watch the show. So self absorbed. Cringe worthy.

I think it was a large mistake to fire Tom and Erin. The show is not as good with them gone.
Losing Tom and Erin was bad enough, but putting Tyra Banks in as a replacement was a slap in the face. To remove wit, kindness and skill with a loud, obnoxious, self-serving individual who bombed in other hosting roles makes us wonder who she’s blackmailing. Won’t be watching any more
I have to say I’ve given it a couple of weeks and Tyra Banks is ruining DWTS …not a fan …I agree we all need to evolve but I also believe to not try and fix something not broken..sorry Tyra
