Doc Martin is ending its time on iTV and Acorn TV. The drama series will end with its upcoming 10th season, according to ITV. Martin Clunes stars as a grumpy physician in the series which has been around for 16 years. Production on the 10th and final season will start in the spring, and the episodes will air later in 2021.
Clunes and producer Philippa Braithwaite said the following about ending Doc Martin:
“We have loved making nine series of Doc Martin. When we launched the series in 2004 we could never have imagined how much our loyal viewers would take to the grumpy Doc like they have. The series has avid fans both in the UK and throughout the world and we are thrilled that Doc Martin has topped the ratings every time.
However, after sixteen years we now feel that the time has come to say goodbye to Portwenn. We will be making the tenth and final series in 2021 and we are very much looking forward to returning to Cornwall to film it.”
Polly Hill, from iTV, also spoke about ending the series, which also streams on Acorn TV in the United States. She said the following:
“I just want to thank Martin and Philippa and everyone involved in Doc Martin, because it’s a brilliant, beautifully made series that has delighted audiences for many years. I am pleased that we are making series 10, and sad this will be the last, but respect their decision to bring it to a close.”
What do you think? Have you watched this dramatic series on iTV or Acorn TV? Will you be sad to see Doc Martin end?
I had been watching Midsomer Murders which I absolutely loved and couldn’t stop watching it. After finishing it I started looking for something else to watch and watched several other Mysteries and Doc Marten kept cropping up but I kept saying I don’t want to watch that it doesn’t sound very interesting . Finally I decided to give it a try and I fell in love with it and can’t stop watching it. Yes I am sad to see it Go and I’m trying to make sure I’ll be able to watch season 10. I really love British television more… Read more »
We have only just discovered and are watching the entire series. We ADORE it! It is LOL funny with just the right touch of poignancy. A big plus is seeing the lovely Cornwall scenery again, as we spent a week there a few years ago.
We live in Wisconsin, USA.
Really have enjoyed the series. The writers have kept it fresh. Characters are entertaining. It’s so very hard to find a decent series that doesn’t have to rely on violence and all the other garbage.
So sad to see it end. One of the few family shows with class and humor without swearing, sex, hate. Wish they would reconsider, they really our a role model for our young and society.
Love every character on this wonderful show. It will be sad to see it draw to a close, but all things come to an end. I look forward to new series involving these fine actors in the near future.
Stop talking!
This season will be bittersweet. We just found Doc Martin on Our newly acquired Acorn subscription. Watch all nine seasons in 10 days! We are thrilled to see one more season but sad knowing it’s the end. Yet we knew it was inevitable. And these fine folks need a break as well. I shall appease my heart with their reruns. Which I hope will be available some where.
very sad to see it ending
I loved watching Doc Martin when I could watch it for free. I thought there were only 6 or 7 episodes.
Sorry to see a quality comedy with great setting end. Haven’t missed any shows and saw some twice. What a shame to see it end! Good quality TV is a rarity these days. Sad to see it end. Pat

Me too, Zita. My husband’s and my all-time favorite comedy/drama series. Look forward to season 10; I had thought season 9 was the final, so I am ever so grateful – and will continue to enjoy reruns!!! Would love to go to Cornwall!!!
Haven’t missed one episode. Immensely enjoyable. Memorable characters. Sorry to see it go, but it’s better to leave too early and than too late.
