What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network,Emergence stars Allison Tolman, Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown. It takes place in Peconic Bay on Long Island, New York. In the series, Jo Evans (Tolman) is a newly divorced police chief and the mother of a teenage daughter named Mia (Aufderheide). Jo ends up taking in a young child named Piper (Swinton) who is found at the site of a mysterious accident and she has no memory of what happened. Jo’s investigation into the child’s mystery draws her into a conspiracy that is larger than she could have imagined. A series of bizarre electronic disruptions, unexplained forces, and a strange cryptic symbol are also all tied to the young girl. Other characters include: Jo’s father, Ed (Brown), who’s also battling cancer; Jo’s concerned ex-husband and Bree’s father, Alex Evans (Faison); investigator Benny Gallagher (Yeoman); Chris Minetto (Bailey Jr.), a police officer; and Jo’s best friend, Abby Frasier (Guevara), a pediatrician.

Will ABC cancel or renew Emergence for season two? The ratings have been dropping and weren’t all that great to start. The show does better in delayed viewing but I have doubts that that will be enough to save Emergence from being cancelled. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. I will be terribly let down if this show is canceled! It is the only show I watch every episode without fail either on tv or ABC.com. My husband and I always watch it together and I’ve recommended it to many others. Emergence has quality actors, an intelligent storyline, and thrilling plot twists. I adore the very believable family where there’s still love, respect, and honesty displayed. A cool sci-fi cliff hanger with old fashioned family values! PLEASE RENEW FOR SEASON 2!

I hope this show doesn’t get canceled like so many other wonderful show have over the past several years. Seems the networks only want to give us silly game shows or “reality” shows. Nothing with any substance.
I really enjoyed the show. it’s hard to find a good family show now that I can watch and not worry about anything inappropriate popping up that I wouldn’t want my kids to see. hope they give it another season.

I absolutely LOVE the show Emergence. It is one of the most unique and fascinating shows on TV these days. I’ll be terribly disappointed if it gets canceled. It seems that most of the interesting and intriguing shows do. They just think we’re a bunch of idiots out here that enjoy watching drivel. I’m pretty much sick of it.

This article doesn’t recognize two important things that completely undercount the audience! 1) Emergence has the third largest audience of all new broadcast shows this year when you look at +35 ratings (see latest Hollywood reporter piece on this – https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/stumptown-prodigal-son-lead-first-year-shows-35-day-ratings-1262664). These numbers do not take into account Hulu – not even sure they count ABC.com either! So many more people watching there. 2) Karey Burke, president of ABC television, noted explicitly that they are moving from reporting same day ratings to looking at +35 ratings because this reflects the new reality of how people consume TV! You are SO CORRECT!! I am 66, btw, and am in the age group with the time and money to watch and consume better than my 30s and 40s when I was working and raising children. Between Hulu, and ABC.com – I am SURE there are many more viewers than the old fashioned Nielsen system reports. These companies need to update their collecting of viewer data badly or they will lose everything to the internet!!
Best show this season
I LOVE Emergence and now that it seems Benny is a robot as well I can’t wait to see where this story line goes! PLEASE DO NOT cancel!! It’s original and just needs a stable time slot.
I am 71 years old and I love this show . Lots of suspense and to me the music is so different yet appropriate for the show’s suspense.. I like the theme and believable actors.
The cliffhangers at the end always make me want to see the next episode.
In fact, I have bookmarked the episodes and often watch 5 at a time. The story flows well and it feels like I am watching a movie. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THIS SHOW
