FBI: Most Wanted is losing one of its leads. Julian McMahon has announced his departure from the CBS procedural series. His final episode is now in production, and it will air in March.
Playing FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jesse “Jess” LaCroix, McMahon has been on the series since the beginning and appeared in the backdoor pilot for the series on FBI. A new character will be introduced to fill his shoes. McMahon said the following about leaving the CBS series, per Deadline:
“Over the past few months, the producers of FBI: Most Wanted and I have had discussions about my departure from the show in favor of additional creative pursuits and the transition of my character Jess LaCroix. These ongoing conversations have given us an opportunity to orchestrate a seamless and productive way for me to leave the show.
I would like to express the gratitude and admiration I have had working with [executive producers] Dick Wolf and Peter Jankowski. I’m extremely proud of the work we have done together and put the development of this show, and my character Jess, at the top of my professional experience list. I wish the show, and its cast & crew, the greatest success in the future. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play Jess; he is a good man.”
Wolf also spoke about McMahon’s exit from FBI: Most Wanted:
“We are saddened to see Julian leave. His portrayal of agent Jess LaCroix has been a key factor in the success of FBI: Most Wanted. We will miss him and we wish him the best in his next chapter.”
McMahon is not the first cast departure for FBI: Most Wanted this season. Kellan Lutz left the series in September.
What do you think? Are you surprised to find out about McMahon’s departure from FBI: Most Wanted? Do you plan to continue watching the series on CBS?
so sorry to see him leave. the quality of his acting lends added credibility to the program. let’s hope whoever comes next wil be equally convincing.
I hate to hear that McMahon is leaving the show, he’s such a great actor and the show just won’t be the same without him. I enjoy this show so much as for whether I will keep on watching it I am not sure! I will give it a try though!
Looking forward to seeing his replacement
When Dylan McDermott joins the show I will watch it. Did not like Julian McMahon or the character he played. Looking for great acting from Dylan, he never disappoints
Agree
Dylan McDermott is on Law & Order: Organized Crime.
But will be on FBI.
Yes, I just read McDermott will be joining the cast. He is currently on L&O SVU however I do not like his character although I have been a McDermott fan for years. Can’t wait to see what happens to him on L&O but look forward to his character on FBI. I now will continue to watch as he will be a great addition.
I’m really sad to see him leave. Sometimes just moving a person out is not necessary to change a story line. He was doing a great job.
Saddened to see McMahon leave. Don’t see how his leaving will be seamless. I have really enjoyed the show. Hope the quality continues.
I can’t remember the name of the male that is taking his part. He mostly plays bad guys. He played the bad guy in Law and order Organized Crime who was involved in the death of the main characters wife. He is a good actor.
I actually am glad he’s going. I didn’t watch the season so much because I just could never see him as an FBI agent. He wasn’t credible. I’ve known a few of them. One of my professors for my Master’s Degree in National Security was retired FBI. He was a former Director of the BSU. You know, the Criminal Minds folks? Profilers? I will always I guess see this guy in the role I know him best for as a plastic surgeon in private practice.
I’ve heard Dylan McDermott will be replacing him. I won’t be watching. I’ll miss the show.
I feel bad for the characters directly related to him too (The daughter, his father, his girlfriend etc.). They all lose their jobs.
Yaya already left, Terry O’Quin was recurring as was Jen Landon. Since they did not bring back his wife’s family (Skyes )that doesn’t leave much else for Jess as far as the family story line.
Sad to see him go. Maybe he can talk Sean into reopening McNamara/Troy?
Will miss Julian McMahon, great actor. Wishing him well in his new ventures.
I hope whoever replaces Julian will carry the lead as well. I watch all 3 FBI’s. Also can something be done about lowering the volume of the background music. It is very hard to hear the characters.
I wish nobody have to leave but people can’t stay forever they have families too. I will miss them both.
I am sad to see him go. I haven’t liked the departure of the other cast members. I wonder what is going on. I will wait to see who the replacement is.
Its Dylan McCormick, so the dynamics sure will be different.
