Earlier this year, CBS introduced Living Biblically, a sitcom about a man who tried to live his life according to the Bible. It was cancelled after a handful of episodes had aired because of low ratings. Now, the network is looking at faith from another angle with a drama called God Friended Me. Will the drama succeed where the comedy failed? Will God Friended Me be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A drama series airing on CBS, God Friended Me stars Brandon Micheal Hall, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, and Joe Morton. Set in New York City, the series revolves around a thoughtful and outspoken podcaster named Miles(Hall). Miles is an atheist and that puts him at odds with his reverend father (Morton). Miles’ life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from a user named “God”. He eventually accepts and starts digging into his new friend’s account, convinced it’s a hoax. He partners with journalist Cara Bloom (Beane) and gets additional aide from his sister Ali (Leslie) and his hacker pal Rakesh (Sharma). Miles is convinced that the “God” account is an elaborate hoax and is devoted to uncovering the truth. In the meantime, he’s playing along and, in the process, seeing his life changed forever.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
4/15 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the God Friended Me TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*1/29/19 update: CBS has renewed the God Friended Me TV show for a second season.
Good show. It should be renewed.
LOVE this show!! Pure enjoyment, great cast, great storyline each week that holds interest each moment until the ‘feel good’ ending A show of this type has been way overdue to overcome all the nonsensical shows that are on and to take a break from all the day to day craziness in our world. Agree that it needs more advertising!! Many of my friends and family didn’t know it was on!! PLEASE DON’T CANCEL!!
hi watched the first show loved it i hope CBS change there mind as im from Australia and it really was a good change with what is on tv today love all the main actors cant wait to see whats next sometimes shows like this bring happiness to people that help strangers and friends like these actors do in the show i see myself as a person that helps people one way or another and it does feel good when your help works sometimes you just need to take that leap of faith cheers peter
Renew, advertise a little more. I just happened to be searching and found it. I don’t think many people knew about it. I like the show so please don’t cancel it. Give it some more advertising for the new season so people know about it.
I love this show don’t cancel.
I LOVE this show. It should definitely Not be Cancelled! It is the first show in a long time that makes me smile. My husband and I watch it together. Please Do Not Cancel ” God Friended Me.”
Love the show! People need something other than violence.
I like the twists and turns in the plot!
I enjoy the program. Watching online however. I dont know how that calculates into the ratings.
I like all the actors on this show (except the reporter and her mother storyline…boring). I very much like Miles, his dad, sister, and uncle. Great job in casting those four. Premise is great, but like a lot of shows, its very repetitive…get someone to Friend, find and save them, happy ending. Its a copy cat of last season’s “Kevin Probably Saves the World” –it was the same storyline (someone selected by God to help a selected person each week). The difference was that Kevin was a comedy, and it was actually pretty funny. Friended is more serious, and it… Read more »
This is one of my favorite shows on TV! It’s so different than everything else. Canceling the show would be a huge mistake. There aren’t enough family shows on the networks.
This show just stinks… Its like little house on the Prairie…
I love the show don’t cancel
I love this show. It makes me feel hopeful.
Me, too. Sometimes I think there are no shows on TV with really good people. Sure, there’s cop shows and all, those but they are all surrounded by death or some such.
I’m tied of shows with nothing but crappy people. This show is full of decent people and I really like that.
And I’m an atheist.
I liked the first few episodes & then they started introducing some storylines that ruined it for me. Had to stop watching. Kevin probably saved the world was SO much better!
Love it, fresh idea, actors do a great job. Comedy with a drama story line mixed in.
It’s new and I like it – and will watch again!
I love the show. With all the chaos in this world we need HOPE for the future.
