Grimm aired its series finale at the end of March, and recently executive producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf spoke with Deadline about a possible future for the NBC TV show.
The show follows Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a homicide detective who fights mythological forces. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bitsie Tulloch, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
In the interview, Kouf said they’d be open to a Grimm spin-off but the series ending was meant to have closure:
We just leave all our options open. You just never know. … It seemed like a very fairytale ending to the show. We really wanted to close the book on it.”
When asked about the possible future for Nick and Juliette, Greenwalt said the ending they got was more realistic:
There are a lot of people who have a lot of opinions about that on both sides of that question. But I think that there was such a beautiful speech in the third to last episode in which Eve/Juliette says, “I wouldn’t go back if I could … We’ve all grown, we’re all different now than we were.” So I think that’s more realistic.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Grimm? Would you watch a spin-off?
I was heart broken to see the show end. While they did at least end it okay, there were still so many unanswered questions. So many things that could have been expanded upon. I personally would prefer if they started the show back up, all the actors said they would gladly come back. However, if a spin off is all we can get I guess we will have to take what we can get. This was such a fantastic show, and the cast and crew were amazing. This is one of the few shows I could really get into like… Read more »
Lot of religious references in the show with destroyer character, also known as Satan, come to destroy the world. The wessen could be interpreted as demons who live in the flesh of men. The number 33 kept appearing in the show, again and again. No doubt the creators are Freemasons or into occult/Satanism/dark arts.
I am a Grimm fan, and yes, if the quality of writing and acting can be maintained, I would watch a spin-off. There are many places to go with a spin-off series. There is Trouble’s adventures before and after she meets Nick. There is Monroe and Rosealee being the ally of a Grimm. There is Juliette discovering the true extent of her powers. There can be flashbacks to Nick’s mother and aunt. Heck, there could even be Grimm vs Wessen moments in history. And let’s not forget, Hitler was a Blutbad. An episode of WWII Grimm vs an Wessen SS… Read more »
I would love a spinoff, especially if we get to see Monroe and Rosalee again!
A spin-off would be wonderful. Looking forward to it.
Absolutely would watch a spinoff! Love the actors, storylines, and concept. Actually was the only regular network program I watched.
I would definitely watch a “Grimm” spinoff. My husband and I both looked forward to Fridays so we could watch “Grimm”. I hope there will be a continuation of, if not the show, the show’s theme.
