(Hallmark Channel)
Earlier this month, we reported that production on season nine of the Home & Family morning program would resume on March 29th. Now, it’s been revealed that the Hallmark Channel lifestyle series will end this year and won’t have a 10th season.
The series began in 1996 as The Home and Family Show on The Family Channel (a predecessor to Fox Family Channel, ABC Family, and the current Freeform channel) and was hosted by Cristina Ferrare, Michael Burger, and Chuck Woolery. The latter left in 1996 and the series ran until 1998.
The show was rebooted in 2012 on Hallmark Channel. Mark Steines and Paige Davis co-hosted the new version but Davis left after six weeks and was replaced by Ferrare, a host of the original iteration. In 2016, Ferrare was dropped and replaced by Debbie Matenopoulos. Then, Steines was replaced by Cameron Mathison in 2018.
In addition to celebrity interviews, Home & Family episodes typically include lifestyle and craft segments. Contributors have included Kym Douglas, Orly Shani, Ken Wingard, Shirley Bovshow, Lawrence Zarian, Paige Hemmis, Ali Fedotowsky, Larissa Wohl, Maria Provenzano, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Prior to the pandemic, the Hallmark series aired for two hours on weekdays. Due to COVID-19, production shut down in March 2020 but resumed in September. Filming ceased again in December and production is expected to resume next week. Episodes will begin airing on April 5th with a one-hour, three-day-a-week schedule. The series finale will air on August 4th.
A statement about the Home & Family cancellation was released by Hallmark, per Variety.
The ninth and current season of Home & Family will be the series’ last. For nearly a decade, the show has anchored our daytime lineup, featuring countless hours of cooking, lifestyle, DIY, health, entertaining, and decorating segments. We want to thank the heart and soul of the show, our incredibly talented cast and crew — led by co-hosts Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison — for their creativity, hard work, and dedication. Our audience can look forward to more of the topical segments they know and love when the show returns on Monday, April 5 with a new one-hour, three-day-a-week format. The program’s final episode airs Wednesday, August 4th.
What do you think? Do you like the Home & Family TV series? Are you sorry to hear that the show’s been cancelled and won’t have a 10th season?

Disappointed that it is cancelled. No more show like it anymore!
I am happy you decided to take Home and family off the air It was a repetitive show same thing over and over
What a shame, the last of daytime tv worth watching . Maybe it can replace Kelly & Ryan or Ellen . H & F will be missed by viewers that are now left with rerun after rerun of golden girls and mattock! We all found out through social media it’s all about money , no problem now we have started to boycott the hallmark stores in Chicagoland & the midwest . We’re sure now the independent Hallmark shop owners will voice there opinions to the KC based day to day operations CEO must step down, and the hallmark actors whom… Read more »
I quit watching when they let Cristina go. I was never a fan of Debbies, but I did grow to really dislike her almost instantly when she said she was blessed to be able to take over the show. I tried to watch after she took over, but she was in every scene and took over every segment. I love a lot of the others who were on the show, but not enough to suffer through Debbie.
Can’t believe it…Loved the show.. It’s a shame you cancel a program like this and will probably put another copycat of what is already on tv… It was so nice to see such a variety of segments..something for everyone. You should reconsider the cancellation
This was one of the last good shows on morning television, Way to go Hallmark on transitioning to programming we don’t waste our time watching,
That is very true!
This is ridiculous. There was finally a show that had no political views. Had a little bit of everything and not only brought a smile to people’s faces but helped them physically and emotionally with health tips, fashion, garden, cooking and so much more. Please rethink this decision we need a breath of fresh air and this was the show that did it !!!
I think it stinks!!! It was the last of a dying brand. This show is what I thought Hallmark Channel was all about.

I am very upset that Home and Family is canceled I looked forward to it everyday I loved all of them and what they brought to the show they are all warm and caring and I will truly miss the show
It truly breaks my heart! I love the show, and I’ll miss everyone!
Sorry to see Home & Family leaving the Hallmark network, We all hope there show gets picked up on ABC as a replacement to Kelly and Ryan what a ratings boost and a breath of fresh air for the network that would be!!!!
Just found out Home and Family show being cancelled. This just broke my heart. Was looking forward to the show returning and brighten our mornings with fun loving cooking, DIY and all the other segments. Question? Will Hallmark stop making movies? That would really upset me. If it gets replaced with some non sensical talk show I will not be watching. Truly disappointed Hallmark
Say it ain’t so, what a shame it was the flagship for all the up and coming movies and series on Hallmark. The interviews with the hallmark actors set the viewers up for all the new shows. Also the pet adoptions that took place on the program where heartwarming and fantastic for our 4 legged friends. Really going to miss starting our weekdays off. The host made us all feel welcomed with all that is going on in this country and the world this show. gave us a break for 120 minutes a day.
Very sad to read about cancellation. Was very much looking forward to the return. Hopefully Hallmark Channel will rethink this poor decision. The show was uplifting and not the usual talk show that is not worth wasting a second watching. The cast was awesome and will be missed. Cancel some other show NOT this. Please reconsider
I will sign. A petition to keep it going. With all the crap and reality shows on TV these days, this was a bright light at the start of the day. Sad sad decision. Just one more thing to add to the dark days we are going thru and cancel culture . Guess we middle to older people don’t count in the TV world anymore.
I so agree with your statement. I looked fwd to watching everyday.
I had watched Cameron on All My Children from begining to end and loved seeing him and Debbie daily. I enjoyed the crafts and the cooking. Seems like anymore, all good shows w/o lust and language are taken off. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK. Also, have Cameron make some more Hallmark movies. Loved as a detective. Another series would be great.
If there are any petitions out there to keep the show, I would sign them.
There is on facebook. Look under the Hallmark Home & Family page.
