Home Fires will continue but not on TV. According to The Bookseller, the cancelled ITV series will be continued as a set of books.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Home Fires? Will you read the books?
It’s a matter of integrity and follow through. They should finish what they started, and because they didn’t, for me it’s a trust issue. Why watch their future shows if there’s a chance they’ll leave us hanging because they’re what? Following the money?
I won’t read the book(s). I dislike bait and switch manipulations.
great show. why cancel?
I definitely want to read the books! It’s the next best thing to continuing the series on TV. I wish they would do this with other series’ that have been canceled with open storylines, like Mercy Street! I need closure! Haha
We wish you would have informed viewers that
your presentation of the aborted Masterpiece Home Fires was just a promo to sell books.
What a slap in the face to unknowing viewers and the marvelous cast that gave life to ink and dry paper.
Which series will you be doing this with next?
I’ll read the books but I’m so sorry this series won’t continue as a TV show too.
Yes, I would definitely read the books. I am a huge fan of the TV series.
Yes, I am a big fan; actually a HUGE fan of Home Fires. I would definitely read the books. I want to know what happened to everyone! I think this was a great TV series and the acting was incredible!
What a horrible way to end Home Fires for viewers like me!! Terrible
I loved the series and will read the book s when they become available
yes I will read the books if only to hope that ‘Pat and Malik’ find each other again
I certainly will read the novels, and will pass them along to my wife. It is a compelling watch with some excellent complications. I enjoy a series that is plot and character driven. CGI is fine but how many buildings or giant spaceships can you blow up and expect that is compelling enough to encourage interest?
I really enjoyed watching the series”Home Fires”.The acting is amazing and the story presents a realistic drama of WWII life in a small English village. I will certainly read the books and hope that BBC will reconsider a renewal of the series. I appreciate the quality programming on PBS. Thank you!
I feel really cheated to be left with such cliff hangers, and disappointed that the producers would leave their supporters out to dry – kind of a slimy move. Will NOT be reading the books as I am not going to support this kind of manipulation. Cancel some of the less-worthy shows instead.
This series was so powerful, a look at the lives of those not on the front lines. Of course the main characters were mostly femail which in itself was unusual. HELLO more than 50% of the viewing population are femail and we aren’t all beer swilling sports viewers! So pathetic to leave every story line open, the worst part of this is the total lack of concern about what viewers need and want. Thank goodness BBC have commissioned three further series of Call The Midwife!
