The charade is over. Bravo has cancelled its Imposters TV show after two seasons. Word is that the NBCUniversal-owned cable network is changing up the way it handles scripted programming. Since there will be no season three of Imposters, the season two finale on June 7th, episode 2.10, “See You Soon, Macaroon,” will now served as the Imposters TV series finale.
A Bravo dark comedy, Imposters stars Inbar Lavi, Rob Heaps, Parker Young, Marianne Rendón, Stephen Bishop, and Brian Benben, with Uma Thurman guest starring. It centers on Maddie (Lavi), a beautiful con-artist, and the “Bumblers,” a team of her former victims. The producers will reportedly try to shop a third season of Imposters, elsewhere.
Imposters: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Imposters is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 419,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 50% and 43%, respectively. Learn how Imposters stacks up against other Bravo TV shows.
Imposters Cancelled After Two Seasons as Bravo Shakes Things Up
Here’s more on the Imposters cancellation from The Hollywood Reporter:
Sources say Imposters had a strong run on Netflix and Bravo had hoped that the Universal Cable Productions drama would receive a ratings bump following its SVOD run given that the cable network is not best known for its scripted series. That was not the case as season two, which returned a year later with not a lot of marketing muscle behind it, lost a chunk of its live viewership.
Sources say UCP may try to shop the series elsewhere with Netflix a possibility given that the series is said to have performed better on the streaming giant than on its original home at Bravo. The series has been a profit generator at UCP thanks to the Netflix deal and strong international sales.
In a larger sense, the decision to cancel Imposters marks a change in the Bravo’s scripted direction. The cable network’s first scripted original — Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, starring Adelstein— will end with its fifth season, bowing June 14. Once that wraps, Bravo’s lone scripted drama will be big-swing anthology Dirty John, starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana. The anthology was picked up following a bidding war, with Bravo handing out a two-season order for the drama and supporting the series with companion docuseries on corporate sibling Oxygen. The move marks a shift in Bravo’s scripted direction to bigger and bolder programming that can cut through a cluttered landscape expected to top 500 scripted originals this year.
What do you think? Have you been watching the second season of the Imposters TV show? If it were up to you, would Bravo have cancelled or renewed this TV series for a third season?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT let Imposters die!!! It is such a well written show The cast is fantastic and they have such great on screen chemistry. It appeals to a variety of ages. I am 55 and my daughter is 20 and we both absolutely love it!! We are so disappointed to hear that it is canceled. I hope Netflix has enough sense to pick it up. Please Netflix, save Imposters!! The final show was such a shocker and so many ways it could go since Ezra pretended to be the Doctor when that last Phone call came in!!… Read more »
Nooo!!! This show is amazing!! With all the fun humor, the plots and the adventure is what makes this show. Canceling it was a big mistake!! PLEASE God let this show go to Netflix or even FX, that be great, i need season 3!!!!
This was a very unique show! Really hate that it’s been cancelled. I was so looking forward to Season 3. The show was charming, daring, funny and innovative. The plots and twists kept everything interesting and intriguing. The Characters were brilliant together. This show will be missed!
I liked the show. Started watching Season 1 on Netflix. Watched Season 2 on Bravo. Sorry there will not be a Season 3 . Felt the time slot was not good and it was not promoted enough. I think on the right channel this would have been a big hit.
I just finished season 2 now finding out there will not be a 3rd?!? This would not happen had the they aired it on Netflix, the show would’ve been streamed by a large crowd, clearly bravo has not done a good job promoting this show. Bravo promotes shows like Andy cohen, or things like the real housewives franchise. Scripted tv shows with this dynamic should be shifted to networks like cw, or fox. This show has so much potential with its interesting plot twists and shifting dynamic it’s unfortunate there’s not an increase with the viewer demographic.
The Imposters is a smart, well done show. It should NOT have been cancelled !
Great show. We love the changing story line and how Ezra’s story has developed. We definitely want a 3rd season!!!
I love this show so much and I’m in love with Ezra’s story line. It would be a shame to not dive in a bit more.
I love imposters!
This show is incredible! I love Ezra’s story line and I think it would be a shame not to at least dive in a little further.
I love imposters!
What a great show – so different than anything I can remember watching in a long tine. It had everything you can ask for – original concept, drama, comedy, wonderful acting and an attractive cast that drew you in. Keeps you riveted and eager for the next episode. So sorry it’s being canceled – a big mistake on the part of Bravo.
Really didnt expect much from this show but wow was I amazed and sucked in by the genius plot and characters. Very well scrolled show and hard to stop watching. This show needs to be brought out in season 3 it is one of a kind and extremely addicting with all the elements of good entertainment. Sad to have a finale so soon.
This is a very well written show, it just captivates you and leaves you wanting more. Season one was incredible, in the middle of season 2 and cant get enough of this show. Tired of reality shows and nothing but other peoples lives on TV. One of the reasons I quit watching TV was because of all of the reality shows. This has been such a wonderful show and its a shame to not see a third season. Like some of the other comments, I hope someone else picks up the show and continues it.
It’s a great show. Hope another network pucks it up. Scrap the (non) reality shows instead of this one.
We are severely disappointed that great fun show Imposters has been cancelled way before it’s time. With streaming, isn’t the old rating system obsolete? This was a great ensemble cast and wonderful to watch. Please take care of this, Andy Cohen!
I was shocked and disappointed at the decision to cancel. It is now beyond me to wonder what “they” are thinking despite knowing about the importance of ratings. There are so many super clever twists and mostly great acting on most of the cast…PLEASE, if any of the powers that be are reading comments, re-consider!!!
