What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Indian Detective stars Russell Peters, Mishqah Parthiephal, Christina Cole, Scott Cavalheiro, Anupam Kher, Hazma Haq, and William Shatner. The mystery comedy-drama centers on Constable Doug D’Mello (Peters), a Toronto police officer who can’t get out of his own way, in his quest to make detective. When a big case fizzles out, Doug visits his father Stanley (Kher) in Mumbai. There, he gets caught up in a murder investigation which leads him straight into the sights of a lethal criminal — one with ties back to Toronto.

Telly’s Take
Because this TV show airs on CTV in Canada, and streams on Netflix in the US, I can’t use the Nielsen ratings to predict whether they’ll cancel or renew The Indian Detective for season two. In addition, this is one of those shows that could end up as a mini-series. While I’m always up for Indian food, I don’t have a strong feeling either way about a second-season pickup. Love the Indian Detective-it’s funny, silly with beautiful scenery, veteran actors along with the landscape of India. If we all chant “Om” together we might get the producers attention….”OMMM”….

I loved the show! I was thoroughly entertained. I sincerely hope there is a 2nd season! Finally a wholesome show to enjoy with my kid that doesn’t have me covering her eyes and ears during the good parts!! Can’t wait for the next session!

I hope Netflix airs a second season! The endearing detective played by Russell Peters is very entertaining in this mix of humor, suspense and adventure. Also enjoying his clueless cultural side that makes the show even more delightful.
The glimpse of scenery showcasing Mumbai, India provides an interesting look at the cultural diversity.
