What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Last Kingdom stars Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thure Lindhardt, Millie Brady, Alexandre Willaume, Julia Bache-Wiig, Joseph Millson, and Peter McDonald. An adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s novel series, The Saxon Stories, the historical drama follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Dreymon), the son of a 9th Century Saxon nobleman. After killing his father, Danish invaders kidnap the boy and he is raised by their warlord, Ragnar. Years later, when Ragnar is killed, Uhtred vows to avenge him, even as he returns to Bebbanburg to claim his birthright.

Telly’s Take
Unless Netflix decides to release streaming “ratings” it is always difficult to gauge the success of streaming TV shows, like The Last Kingdom. So, let’s look at what we do know. Netflix became a co-producer after the first season ran on BBC Two in UK and BBC America in the US. And in the US, the second season will have its first run on Netflix, leaving BBC America out of the picture. They must have some faith in the project. Provided the show continues to do well in both the UK and in the international markets that get the series via Netflix, I suspect The Last Kingdom will be renewed for season three. 9/26/17 update: Though a season three renewal hasn’t been announced, there have been reports of season three casting and filming.

I went into the “Help Center” on Netflix and under “Quick Links” clicked “Request TV shows or movies”. I requested they renew this show for three more seasons. If enough people did this maybe it would help?

After about the third episode of season 1, the show really takes off. Season two was just fantastic. I’ve seen too many shows get cancelled prematurely. We have to keep in mind that viewership of some of the most popular series ever took a few seasons to have the massive appeal they eventually achieved. I would be devastated if The Last Kingdom didn’t give us at least 4 seasons.
Please please renew last kingdom for a season 3.. so need more of this show

The Last Kingdom is one of the very best series we have watched on Netflix. It would be a truly disappointment if it were not continued. Please continue this AWESOME series. The cast of characters is tremendous!!!!
A fantastic production that really hit its stride in Series 3. The story, cast and attention to detail are excellent. Particular shout outs for Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson and Ian Hart. I will be very disappointed if they don’t renew, but for the moment I am buying the books…..
If they do not do a third season of the last kingdom. I will cancel my Netflix. It’s been one of the best shows yet, and to not even finished the story is ********! Besides it’s a great story of history.
I agree. Once you watch a couple episodes you’re completely sucked in. Season two covered a TON of ground in just 8 episodes. So good.
