What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Last Kingdom stars Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thure Lindhardt, Millie Brady, Alexandre Willaume, Julia Bache-Wiig, Joseph Millson, and Peter McDonald. An adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s novel series, The Saxon Stories, the historical drama follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Dreymon), the son of a 9th Century Saxon nobleman. After killing his father, Danish invaders kidnap the boy and he is raised by their warlord, Ragnar. Years later, when Ragnar is killed, Uhtred vows to avenge him, even as he returns to Bebbanburg to claim his birthright.

Telly’s Take
Unless Netflix decides to release streaming “ratings” it is always difficult to gauge the success of streaming TV shows, like The Last Kingdom. So, let’s look at what we do know. Netflix became a co-producer after the first season ran on BBC Two in UK and BBC America in the US. And in the US, the second season will have its first run on Netflix, leaving BBC America out of the picture. They must have some faith in the project. Provided the show continues to do well in both the UK and in the international markets that get the series via Netflix, I suspect The Last Kingdom will be renewed for season three. 9/26/17 update: Though a season three renewal hasn’t been announced, there have been reports of season three casting and filming.

Love this show the writting and acting are both superb. I started reading the books you can read through 5 of 10 and not get ahead of the series. Bernard Cornwell writes gripping can’t put it down historical fiction. I would love to see them make his King Author novels into a series.
Great Show! I liked it better than the Vikings and I like that.
I just watched the two seasons in 24 hours and absolutely gutted the 3rd isn’t out, i hooked line and sinker and 2 years to wait to see if a 3rd season comes out is agony! This show is great!

this is an amazing show please do not cancel. This is one of many BBC series on Netflix that I have enjoyed about the coming of the English throne. I have shared it on my Facebook page and I will tell everyone I can to watch it in support of this series.
It is by far better than any series we have watched! And we’ve seen a lot! We LOVE it and hope it gets picked up for more seasons. We actually think it is more interesting than game of thrones. And of course it doesn’t hurt that he is HOT.. All seriousness, great acting and continually holds your interest until the end of each episode. I think we watched one whole season in a weekend♀️.. So we really hope it gets @ least a third season..It is sooooooo worth it..
TheLast Kingdom totally deserves to be renewed wonderful series brilliantly produced and acted and with so many books left in the series it is crying out to be renewed for a third season and more
